3B EPA Engines
Just wondering what engines can I use in this class
I know that there is displacement rule and maximum of 115hp
But....
According to this site:
http://www.uimpowerboating.com/vsite...m-item,00.html
I can't use Evinrude 115 H.O.
Still many boats runs on them
What about Optimax 115 ??
Cheers,
Mike

The 115HO is ok, and comes under the homologation for Bombardier 115/130 E-tec. If the number of 90hp Yamaha's competing drop below a certain percentage, then they will be phased out (So only about 1 year left on them). Not sure on the opti, but heard rumours it was eligible.

Would be an interesting and possibly embarrasing question for UIM !! I have been asking same question for some time but seems we have very little technical knowledge within the UIM.

Had kind of thought it a strange choice of engine alright, as it doesnt fit the cc requirements for the class. Maybe the EPA engines are purposely allowed higher HP to entice people into green engines, ie. you have to go this way to stay competitive.
theres also boat weight, setup and experience to factor in.
You should still be able to race the 90 nationally next year anyway, i think!

There is nothing in the pipeline (at least in Uk) to discontinue the Yam 90 in B Class.
I have tried to get to the bottom of the 115 theory for some time but no one really has an answer. From the Uk perspective it would make sense (if we could attract enough teams) to run as "A" & "B" classes. as we already do in OCR.
