There was a big difference in time/distance between V2 and the other V24's

Not just the hp difference, twin motors makes for an infinitely more stable boat, + the extra length, S-6 should'a flown.

IMHO it was rougher than it appeared from the start finish area, & only did enough to stay in front. twaz a day to drive with the head not the foot.

Didn't think I would get away with the easy answer.
During the 1st lap a kill switch cord was accidentally pulled (big bump) and we came off the plane. At that time the bow tank had been emptied as we had been going downwind and had just come around the mark for an upwind leg. There was no way that going upwind with an empty bow tank we could resume racing. With the three blade cleavers Noisy will only plane with a full bow tank and with a following sea.
We actually had dispensation to avoid the mustering area enabling us to keep the boat on the plane. Our start was well behind the rest of the rather meagre (numbers, not quality) fleet. Half way through the first lap we had overtaken 3 boats. We knew we would never catch S6 (it's supposed to do 105 mph) but we were having fun and thought we would work our way up as we went along.
BluFin is right, is was a lot bumpier out there than if probably appreared from the pier.
God, does that boat need some four bladers.

Actually - No.
I was first back in Salterns... I watched you coming in as we were craned out.
I 'lost' the trim guage and it read 5.5 no matter what I did with the trim control. After turn 3 - heading towards turn 5 I was submarining, and in trying to alter trim and not watching the water too well, I hit a big one, and went in sideways....
I lost the mirror, vent, the engine hatch popped open and the gas struts raised it! The side hatch was also blown open, and the seals got tired of hanging on to the boat and let go.
Both of us got a large faceful of water, the helmets went ape and started screaming with a high pitch whine, water sloshing around our feet. Still no trim. So I gave up and went 'home' Completed about 1/20th of the race.
Still on balance it was one ot the best events I went to.
Dont know why - but the organisers had everything sorted, and they were helpful, friendly and - dare I say it - Even the OOD was 'nice'
All in all the land based 'stuff' was perfect. Given a better prepared boat, some nicer seas, it would have been one of my best events yet.
( and with the state of the sea, I am sure the competitors were very happy that there were 23 support boats! )

S-6 was fine just following V-2 unfortunatly V-2 took them wrong hence the big gap between the other V-24's.
V-1 was the first to complete the correct course with V-5 second
luckily it was a charity race and not a national otherwise there would have been the usual protest b.s but all in all a nice race.unless you were racing you won't know how bumpy it was.
