Short vid. Quality isn't great, but it gives a taste.

Looks a different boat from the way he was testing 7 days ago - damn shame it didn't hold together - would love to have seen the average speed.

If anyone ever doubted the passion to race, check out this pic just received from Dave Ormiston.

Cancer trivia
It would be interesting to know how Tim Grimshaw rated the conditions on Sunday to that of 25yrs ago.Surely it would have been even flatter.I see `Turbo` with same h.p as V3 achieved a similar speed, and that was with `Turbo` having twin engines.I have recorded that `Project Racing` has h.p. rated at 420,so those 2 x 150hp of Tim`s make Sunday`s race no great shakes. So much for great strides in the smaller classes, even the batboat myth gets shot to pieces on these stats.More trivia for the Phantom legend Jonny ,and for the record the CTC 84 shows `Cinzano` averaged 76.0mph to win.Perhaps they had the sea anchor on tow on Sunday.

i dont think cinzano is really around the cans type of boat, just as they got it settled and running right they would of had to go round another can

cancar research
my views ezactly as with all of the larger boats no sooner do they get up to speed when its time to turn a corner and to carry speed on a tight corner and maintain it really is not poss on such a short course

Totally agree but then again they did very well against the smaller boats that were faster on the corners. Claire

More Cinzano trivia
The last two posts are a bit of an old chesnut, but consider this trivia.
`Thuraya`, 41` CUV ,1600hp ,P1 ,9 laps over an hour race averages 72.85mph.(Italian GP 2004)
I could get all techical being as I have the boats weights to hand, but 300 extra horsepower on a larger boat basically equates to circa 5mph extra speed over `Cinzano`,a 38` CUV with 1300hp.
So round the cans a la P1,`Cinzano` would have a potential of 67.85mph.(56.9mph in Cancer race) based on the above.

Funnily enough I had had the same thoughts although I had reservations about posting as such as I was very greatfull to the racers for putting on such a show for us spectators in the first place and felt it was great to see a good field of boats in the CR knowing it ain't cheap to run some of these high HP boats at any race event
It may have been me but I thought on the last strait coming up to the finish both Cinzano and team 25 seemed to gun it harder to the line so perhaps their was still a little in reserve for these boats also their seemed to be a small kink in the strait from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth pier this would add a small cumulative time over the event if so
as regards Cinzano it cut a splendid sight and I guess if one was to use the boat for more of these spectator friendly round the cans events and was sponsored to do so then one could spend time and money setting up gearing and propellers best suited for sprint racing
the Phantom 3D 150x2hp boats average performance is puzzling given the fact I cant see those boats getting much more than 70mph back then some 5mph short of the V24's speeds

also depends on the timing on the day, some of the the results we had were over 5mph faster than we could go in flat let alone in bumpy race conditions
