Outerlimits to make Don Aronow Ltd Edition
Had news break here today, that Michael Aronow and Mike Fiore have agreed on a new Don Aronow Limited Edition to be made by Outerlimits.
The same boat that won the Don Aronow Memorial around Long Island race last September, the 43 SV model.
Michael Aronow and Michael Fiore announced today that Outerlimits Powerboats will be the exclusive builder of the 43ft Don Aronow Limited Edition Outerlimits. After watching first hand the record breaking victory by the Outertlimits 43' in the September Don Aronow Memorial Around Long Island Marathon, Michael Aronow was so impressed with the 43's' combination of speed, style, design and performance he stated that Mike Fiore and his 43' reminded him of his Dad and how Don would design, build and race a prototype to prove the boat's superiority over all other manufacturers and only after once so proven, would he then proceed to build them for the public.
Aronow feels that Outerlimits through its design and construction technique(s) is at the forefront of the high performance industry. “In my opinion, this is the boat my father would have built if he was still alive and in his prime today. It is something special and something to be proud of - head over heels above the competition”.
Fiore stated, “We are honored to be able to use the Aronow name and that Michael thinks so highly of our company coming from his family's background in the industry.”
This boat, based on the Outerlimits SV43 design will be available in two commemorative paint schemes similar to Don's original 1969 World Champion race boats. It will sport Dons signature race slash “number 1” on the deck/bow and hull sides. The Don Aronow name will be carried throughout each numbered limited edition hull. Base boat starts at with Mercury Racing 525EFI’s.

This is such a bad idea. To put Don Aronows name on a hull that has absolutely nothing to do with his name is a stinker. There is nothing wrong with the Outerlimits boats, on the contrary, but this is marketing at its worst.
The Dons name should only be put on a Donzi, a Cigg or a Magnum.
Great marketibg would be to actually build a limited edition of one of the old signature boats that he actually raced with and maybe, just maybe put some modern wizardry on the hull to make it an old school racer with top notch modern performance.

There was a couple of interesting articles about Outerlimits in the last Professional Boat Builder magazin, I can scan it if someone is interested.

Hahaha the Vuvuzela was the worst export to come out of South Africa, it nearly ruined a perfectly good world cup and now a signature edition one for the boating world.....Oh how sad will that day be?
