There was one question from 'zippy' and one comment. The question referred to the boats age. You replied to the comment whilst not answering the question.

There was no debate, just a question.

oh! no worries there i got me answer at last she`s a 1995 so nearly 13 years old. when a friend of mine looked at your boat you told him it was 2005, so surley depreciation at £1000 a year £16k would be a fair price!

No good having all that gear on board if you are out at sea and the hull fails and it sinks due to age wear and tear and general deterioration if its 12 years old and not 2 years old as proposed !!!!!!!!

Now this is hard for me, because Gary's insistance on trying to be clever infuriates me!...However, I can say that in spite of his avoiding the age thing, this particular boat is in very good order indeed and it doesn't deserve any bad press.

Generally speaking, older boats scare me off, gel fade, general tattyness, and most frighteningly, rot in the timber structures, particularly on cheaply built boats, or ones that have been rigged without thought for stopping any water ingress into the structures in the first place, are all factors. But a nicely built, nicely rigged and nicely looked after boat at 12 years, or more, is not a problem (discount most mass production yank crap from that list)

This particular 24 may be 12, but it fits all the criteria above.

As an example, Roger Severys' Phantom 28 is a '95, and is as good as the day it first hit the water. (except in the clockwork department, but we won't go there)

It really is a superb boat, and it's the quickest 24 we've ever built. It's been looked after all it's (long) life, and I'm sure it would give it's new owner years of trouble free use!

It would be an excellent choice for a Hot Boat entry.

I just think it's funny how the "smartarse" has yet again shot himself in the foot!
