Open exhausts

I am in the processs of having my engine rebuilt/refreshed and am thinking of straight through or switchable exhausts. I have seen a few suppliers stateside but wondering if anyone knows of any UK sources as the engine is out and NOW would be a good time.

Hi mamboking,Bruce Baker(my partner in GB Performance marine)tested many types of exhaust silencing, and the best by far was the CMI muffler,he lost no speed at all.At idle there is not enough pressure to open the muffler fully & so you get the silencing,only when you reach 3000rpm's was there enough pressure to open the muffler and allow full exhaust flow.The CMI muffler just clamps to your existing tailpipes.pm me your e-mail address and i will send you some more info.

I believe Corsa also i s availbe from any aut. Mercury dealer/partner - atleast here in DK.

Don't bother with all that work, I can let you have a 496HO Mag on a Bravo 1X, brand new in crate, with full manufacturers warranty for £10,000.00. But hurry, it's the last one at that price!

CP are pretty good, but the best value at the moment are probably Rex Marine. Switchable's are okay to fit with the motor back in, as long as your currently running "thru the prop". You'll also need a pair of straight cut exhaust tips, with internal and external flappers as you have a bathing platform.

Roger has my motor apart, seems that i just need some new rings and a decoke.......at the moment!

Tony put Switchables on the 6.2L he supplied in Ace's 24 Extreme new last summer. Excellent, I whole heartidly recommend them.

wouldn't mambos 24 be a bloody flying machine with a 496?

It was a bad signal to Roger but i'm sure he said `piston rings` and NOT `Procharger`

It is tempting to go for the new package and fly,.....i used to fly a mates light aircraft which would be a handy skill with that motor!

VFR = Visual flight route, navigate below the cloud base!!

I know its very easy to spend other peoples money, but that motor is well cheap.

And hey, with the lairiest Extreme on the goddam river..... its fitting you should have a really BIG lump!
