Project Scarab 31 for sale

Hull: repainted white
Interior: needs re-upholstering
Engines: 2x re-built Mercruiser 7.4 V8 ready to install
Gearboxes: 2x re-conditioned, ready to install (will check model)

All of the big jobs are done and it all needs putting together.

Scarab Pics
Finally got a break in the weather. Scarab pics as promised...
The fordeck will need respraying but the rest of the paint work is pretty good. Some minor chips down the stb side.
Engines are Mercruiser 420s 7.4 v8s completely rebuilt but never fitted, Possibly one carburettor missing, not sure until I finish searching the workshop.
The stern drives are Bravos and in good order, still waiting to hear about the gearboxes as they are currently in someone elses barn. They were reconditioned units sourced from the states - never fitted.
The cockpit is in pretty good shape, the engine bay is clean and painted out.
The cabin has also been painted white. All of the paint work was sprayed.
Looking for £15k for the whole lot or may split. PM me for more pics

I don't ever like to say this, but in a 'helpful' way, that seems a touch pricey to me?

Bravo's don't have separate gearboxes, so they're probably TRS drives.
Although the pic is small, they certainly look like TRS's
Also note the engine has a rear engine plate (mount) which isn't Bravo style.

Not to be rude , but..........the quality of the build is pretty much Junk .........considering i have done 4 or 5 Panthers over the years that have .......needed.. A.. total stringer and transom replacement with the liner being partially removed in the cockpit area and the reason being is ........The Weep holes ..... were not being properly sealed and i guess the rest you can figure out .

I think you need to messure your 32 Hustler again, it should messure 32.3 feet and a 31 viper is 29.8 feet both messured from bow to transom.
I also have to agree, that the boat in the picture is a Panther and not a 31Viper.
Once again i actually have to say Ginger is correct also, the wellcraft Scarabs where very poor laminated and built.
If anybody loves and want's a Scarab, see if u can find a LARRY SMITH Scarab ..built in California and not in Florida.

A boat like yours in running condition with bad bolsters and rough looks, is maybe worth 10,000.00 USD here in the US and only because its on an aluminum trailer.
Without that i say maybe 7,000.00 !
It is a very hard to sell item unless u find somebody that has no clue.

Yeah cos that's the right way to go about it, con someone
On a serious note, there is a similar wellcraft over here, a 'Nova Spyder' if I recall correctly, which is in absolutely mint condition with no rot, only two owners, both of whom I know, with a pair of good 7.4 Mags fitted infront of bravos, tie bar, big stereo, new trimming etc...
All for sale for £10k, ready to go!
With this one you have to consider that there may be rot (and lots of it!), it needs to be re-trimmed, I'll assume the wiring and rigging is all ok and ready to go, but I'd bet it'll need some work, the gearbox/drive setup is dated although perfectly good.
I'd say a lot depends on the extent of any rot, he'd do well to get the boat surveyed so he can give a buyer an honest answer. Obviously he'd get the best price by just finishing off the boat an selling it as a running rig, but failing that I'd try to give as much honest proven info to a buyer to assure them of what they're getting.
If I were buying, I'd be unlikely to offer much more than £7k for what's there if I knew it had no rot, you'll probably make more from parting it out.
Cheers, James
