progress

Or so it seems....

The hull modifications are dun, the stepped tunnel is now a reality, and the gluing it all back together is taking place...

Monday/Tuesday is the stick in the fuel tank, fix the way dodgy wiring so it does not burn up, and fill holes and put in seats and fix throttles and remount engines and stuff like that.

Still looks to be on schedule...

Looking good, will be great to hear that all this hard work has sorted all the stability problems out and paid off, always had a soft spot for these 3 pointers although I personally hated the one we used in 3C many years back so unpredictable, however that one started life smaller and ended up being re-worked to a much larger length so it had an excuse for the dire handling, but I do remember being at Chris Lewis's when they were sea trialling the first Blade and he said it was pretty useless and then it flipped over great if you like boating up side down, in the late 90's their was another 3C boat raced with an aerofoil at the rear this seamed to be far more stable than ours and it appeared to run with the front flying higher with better lift down the tunnels, then came the 3D boats like Neil Holmes raced again this appeared to be far more stable running at the front of the 4LTR fleet don't know weather this was Neil's skill or the fact he had sorted out the problems, I have often wondered how much difference their has been in the running surfaces of the various models 21, 28, 34 and have they altered the bottom of the 34 Rib version and there was a reasonably successful 16/17' tri speed boat made by Blagg these did not seem to have the same problems however they still died out...anyhow hopefully it will be a great success after the mods

Electrical CRAP

Spent a day trying to remove as much fire hazard as possible from the boat ( AKA electrical instalation )

Whoever did the electrical work should be shot for crimes against humanity.

It is without a doubt the wose, by an order of magnitude, I have ever seen, and I have seen custom electrical jobs in tin shanties in SOWETO.

Hopefully I did not remove too many essential electrical components, and the engines will start....

As of 12h30 today the boat was ready to go to sea!

Approximately 7 hours ahead of the Gant chart.

Friday was prop testing, but due to the weather this will move to Wednesday..

However - the boat is done.

( and some feckorf big washers to replace the old ones, and additional stuff like the steering now works... )

Apply directly to the original building, electrics and rigging of this boat. It is - by far - a worse thing than I have ever seen. It still shocks and amases me that it did not:

1) sink
2) burst into fire
3) break the stearing ( oh - I forgot it did that )
4) roll over and die

Bannnnnnnannna shark have done an excellent job. In addition to the design changes they have also tried to replace/repair/fix/remove those items that they thought presented an immediate risk to life, and have given me a list of recommended minimum changes if I dont burn the boat.

Some of the stuff in the 'design' or 'implementation of the design' is just stupidy stupid, other stuff should result in the boat builder being put up against the wall and shot ( in a country with a better view of cause and effect! )

But....

With way over 480kg of shyte removed, all the 'ice marine' electrics removed completely and trown in the bin where it belonged the 'thing from hell' is starting to resemble a boat.

Possibly I may get to even like it after it has been properly re-rigged!

Great stuff you will need some spot lights at this rate to light the boat up if it's anything like Poole at present... pushing on midday it's almost dark, not cold but from indoors (Shop) looks like mid December outside poor holidaymakers should ave gone to Spain!!! good job the Poker run was cancelled it would av been miserable

Pictures: Part one of many parts....

Just getting an understanding of the actual structural change that has taken place in the tunnels. These provide an alternate view of the 'hole'.

A usefull addition: One of many

A failing of the Bladerunner build was an ability to evacuate water from the outriggers. I added metal bung plugs when I bought the boat, but that meant you had to remove it from the water to drain it out. Adding some bilgeability to the outrigger/sponson was added in by Kitten.

Some 'cupped' washers

The washers were the spec specified by Barrus - as confirmed when replacement washers were ordered by Bananashark ( they plain simply refused to refit the old bolts or the old washers!)

So Kitten made up some washers that he though would meet his personal satisfaction requirements....

...these bad boys are 1 cm thick!

Some leaky engine mouning bolts

Water is getting in someplace. Engine mounting bolts appear to be the region most likely...... These are the 'before' pictures....

Testing scheduled for Thursday at Salcome - which is at the far end of the world!

Testing was going to be at Drivers, but as I can not do the Pokerrun Saturday, I am not going to bring the boat up to Southampton just for a test...

The boat is Safety for the CTC race the following weekend, in Torquay.
