One thing I am sure of is that James is going to make a good job of restoring her, and have fun doing it. And after all is said and done that what counts
Good lucK James

I must admit, the part pash circled isn't the same shape as the finished outboard bracket, as the bracket stuck out at the bottom but was a triangle, being flush at the top, where the seaquel deck joined on.
looking at the work done to fit the seaquel deck, i don't think it was done by the same person. Different colours of resin and totally different types of matting are used, and the workmanship is totally different, I would say it's very good. (with the exception of the fact that i can't access the bow from half way & the expanding foam! )
Either way, this part looks professional.
I spoke to Steve Hutch and he told me he fitted the deck and then sold her as a bare boat rigged for twins, this would explain a lot.
When you get to the floor and engine mount, it's a different story. Everything, and i mean everything, is made from 2x4 wood like you would use in a house, and 1/2" household ply. The floor was not laminated, and where there was fibreglass, it's painfully obvious that it was someone's first attempt and that all they had done was put a mat in place and then brush over it with some (not enough) resin. Hence all the problems.
The outboard bracket is appauling, and the floor supports seem to have been made from the offcuts.
Whoever it was that built these two parts, i'd love to chat with them
In view of this thread and the differences is quality though, i don't think it was Steve.
As Pash mentioned, regardless of all this, i intend to have her back to a good standard, which is what matters the most!
Cheers for the responses to the thread so far,
James

Ooh, and cheers for the pic roofer, great stuff. Any idea what the black metal plates on the knees supported? I'm trying to work out where the strength is in the structure! Any more pics would be great!
Cheers, James

No offence meant to you in the slightest Steve, I found speaking to you hugely helpful and you're probably my best chance of getting this boat back to the way it should be!
Would you have any photos of her either during the build you did or at any other time??
Cheers,
James

So James,
In putting her back to two engines, will the transome or tunnel whatever be back as it was in the pictures Roofer sent over?

Must admit when I bought Papa Kilo, Steve was telling me how he was amazed at the single conversion, considering that there is nothing there to bolt it to.
Can get you some pics of Papa Kilo's back end if you want / if it helps going back to twins.... but will have to wait till the weekend, shes wrapped up pretty well at the moment.....

'The Force' If you could, that would be great, they must be roughly the same. Basically i want to find out what creates the strength in the transom. It's hard to tell on mine as so much has been unbolted and messed around with! It looks like the inside 2 bolts used to go through an 'L' bracket which then bolted to the inside of the knee but all this is long gone... I'm just trying to go by outlines, marks and old holes!
Steve, Would you have any pics of her before the build or during the build? That would be great, also do you know what the black plates are on the outside of the knees at the top and what the support?
I'm trying to work out how the transom is supported and what the structure is so i don't bolt the motors to the wrong bit and tear the back end off!
Off back up to the vinery tonight to carry on ripping bits off!
James

Yes, I think that's how it was. There was a stainless tie bar with anchor plates at each end that tied the two inner motor knees together

Ahh, yeah i can see that now in the photo roofer put up. Ok, so that's on the inside now so won't be a problem... I can see now that the outside knees are then in turn tie-barred to the inside ones. Minor problem here... the outside knees don't exist any more.
Also, on closer inspection, only the bottom engine bolts went through these metal brackets inside.
Basically what i've found so far is that to attach any engine(s) to it, in any way, is going to be a right mission. It'd probably be easier to buy another hull!

It's such a shame that the engines in roofer's pic weren't just put back on along with all the correct rigging... god life would be easier that way! Any idea what happened to all of the old rigging?
