Carpet's in!
Finally got to fit the carpet last night, it's made such a difference! I actually feel like she's a boat again now instead of an expensive collection of wood.
The carpet i used was quite expensive at £20 a sq. metre, but is very thick, very hardwearing and best of all amazingly light! the whole 5m x 2m roll weighed about 5kg!!
I've still got to cut out a couple of bits out to fit the seats and foot throttle somehow, and i'm making the covering strips that hide the join between the carpet panel and the edge of the screen/side tomorrow.
Really happy now it's all starting to come together!
James

Thanks Del, I love yellow too! They do go together well but strangely i usually prefer them on their own, reminds me of rhubarb and custard otherwise!

Does she have a back seat and where did you have your switch panel made, looks nice.
Still got to get my arse round to see your boat. Was hoping to get the extreme in the water today but it will be too much of a rush so will put it off for another day.
And i think Scott (team 25) will come to Guernsey this year, he seemed keen when I was over, and he promised to bring me my bathing platform.
James would you ever think about running yours to the UK? I know it seems a way but I've always wanted to take a boat that far.

Hi! Thanks for the comments, she does have a rear bench, it curves around the back, There's a photo of it at the bottom of this post for you.
I made the switch panel myself, I used to work in engineering and it's part of what i do now too if you'd like one
Glad to hear team 25 may be coming across, the more the merrier, can't wait to see your extreme in the water, i'd love to come out for a spin, I'm hankering after a supercharged one at the moment!
I'd definately take the cat to the UK, i really would like to go over for the drivers poker run, no doubt you met plenty of the guys from there too when buying your extreme, i still remember how good it looked when i saw it there whilst buying the cat! Would you be interested in givig me some company in the extreme?
Cheers, James

June the 13th was the date she mentioned to me last week, which I'd certainly be up for.
Perhaps some volunteers could be found to make the task of organising a little easier.

She didn't look so good back then, a bit of imagination was required, but she's almost there now, can't wait to get her in the water!
Did you read the whole thread?

Can't wait to see her out, I think you will have quite a few jealous friends. What do you think her top end will be?

I'm aiming for the magic 100mph. She did 90 odd with 2 litre xr2's, 114 or so with 2.5 efi's, and i'm running her with 2.6 yams. 100 is hopeful but i like to think it'll be possible, i'm not shy to run her a bit loose!

Welcome back to guern mate! I've just bought myself a nice new plastimo dinghy, looking for a 6hp for the back, only twice the rating
Yeah there is a limit in the harbour, plenty of wake jumping to be done round the back at shell though!!

Yes it is, no they don't. You need to go to a proper timber merchant.

Finished the powerheads!!
Got the powerheads finished off the other day! Just gotta get in touch with various people to organise the few spares i need and I can put the engines together once they're sprayed!
Here's a photo of them just before i put the last reed block back on... I've cleaned the mating surfaces, but other than that this is how they were, not bad for 20 year old engines! Just goes to show they've had an easy life! I need to get round to cleaning all the dust off though!

Cut the back end off... again!
After a lot of thought, i decided i wasn't happy to run 9" of setback, so the last resort was to make the boat fit the engines!
I'd spent ages repairing the back, but i must admit it was one bit i wasn't happy about. It's much better now, done the way i'd like it to be. The engines fit with just 5" setback, and i must admit i think it looks better like this
The hatch will be on an electric ram for access to battery, electrics, fuel filters etc. Just done all my filling & glassing in, hoping to have it epoxied over and painted up in the next few days.
