My APBA/ UIM International with US letter authorizing competition in all European offshore events (used at Cowes for the last three years) was no good at this particular event and would have to be rescinded, then an RYA licensed purchased, Physical, etc. Sally Windsor was very helpful in this matter and I thank her for her advice and efforts in trying to alleviate this problem. Being based in the US of course does not help but that will be rectified in the near future. Look forward to more racing in the UK soon.

Hi Mike

It would have been great to see you racing in Lymington with Dry Martini
but we understand the problems.
We look foward to seeing you over here next year

A NOTE FROM OUR RACE SECRETARY

Hi everyone

Please find here a link to the new set of Race Instructions which are on the BIBOA website; please be sure to have read this most recent copy and have it with you on the day. We have reversed the original course to accommodate more boats and altered the position of the start and finish lines. These changes have been agreed by the Course Approvals Cttee at the RYA

http://www.lymingtonchallenge.com/st...202012%202.pdf

We're looking forward to a great race day on the 29th and at present have an expected entry list of over 25 boats, which is absolutely fantastic.

Many thanks to those who have already sent in an Entry Form - it would be very helpful if all others could do this by email as soon as possible. There is one for RIBs and British Club Championship classes, and one for Marathon boats, both attached.

The Royal Lymington Yacht Club are incredible hosts and will have food and drink flowing throughout the day in the bar. They prepare coffee, fresh orange and bacon rolls in the morning, and sandwiches and light bite lunches from noon which you can purchase in the Bar.

In the evening following the Awards, we have a curry supper with three choices and all the side trimmings, followed by a sweet for £15/head; it would be really helpful if you could let me know by email how many tickets you might need for the supper so we can roughly calculate numbers; tickets can be purchased from me in Race Control throughout the day on Friday or Saturday..

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any queries: mary.puddifoot@mail.com or 07831 468 060

With very best wishes
Mary

View of BIBOA Race

Last year, I found that the car-park just west of the end of Hurst Spit was a good view point of the race.
The North Head buoy is close, & you get en excellent view of most of the course, but not, of course, all the Marathon course, from there.
Take a good pair of bins'.

That's a great line up you have for this years Lymington Challenge, congratulations to the organisers.

From an Isle of Wight perspective, will have to find a vantage point between Fort Victoria and Fort Albert. Will need a big lens!!
Give us a wave Martin.

Looking at the course it does appear that those turn marks are in fact some distance from the coast, the close-est turn mark appears to be the one between Boscombe and Southbourne during the race, but still I would guess its quite away offshore
I assume at Hurst Castle one would only see the boats going out to the start line/Muster area, however are the boats still racing on their return to the finish line on the return trip ? ... anyone know

The new Marshan 21 will be entered with Mercury's new 2.5 v6 150 pro XS. It's first test. Good luck to Andy Hiscox and Glen Thompson.

The Ribs and BCC boats will be racing from Mark 1 Pennington Red Pole
round Hurst to North East Shingles Mark 3 on two of the laps
The race fleet will pass close to Hurst twice, then finish at the Lymington
Bank Mark 8

The Marathon Classes finish South of Lymington Bank Mark 8

Entry List

Chris,
What a great entry list, why can't we get so many boats out for other races !
I do hope that Drew turns up too, Marathon looks like a really strong fleet. I guess that the majority will arrive on the water early Saturday morning, that's certainly what we are planning with Cinzano, having fueled up in Yarmouth on the way.

Maybe I had better get to the Yarmouth fuel pontoon first!

Thank to all the organisers and well done to Vee and Gareth in Microlink Fury.

I had the pleasure of racing in Blastoff the Fountain powered by twin Yanmars, at least it was until half way round the final lap when we blew a turbo.

A leisurely 4 hour trip back to Drivers at 7 knots. Many thanks to race winner Gareth for waiting back at Drivers for our return in the dark!

Of course thanks to Dorian for giving me the opportunity, he Rob and Ashley are a great crew.
