It's a late 40's early 50's motor & technology great in its day for the Comet, Caravelle, Lightning Hunter,Canberra ect.

Look at some of the smaller helcoper motors Allison 250, is really groovy though a little fragile.

TURBOMECA Arriel, Makila good motors. But ya really cant get better than a cheap eastern import from the OLD CCCP. It has the advantage of sinking an exelent mooring when it's time ex.

And fkk all use on a boat as it doesn't have a power turbine - but I still like it!

The Isotov GTD-350 IMVHO is worth looking at, russian copy of the Allison but made, I think, from cast iron & girders, so hopefully less fragile. Unfortunately, it's upside down compared to the allison (though I think the allison can be run either way up?) but the drawing I've seen suggests it should be possible to modify the oil system to run with the driveshaft on the bottom. I've also found a guy in the states who's run them the normal way up and managed to just about get it to fit onto a bravo.

But, I'm a long, long, way from any of these dreams coming to fruition - lots of other things on the 'todo' list first - though 1 or 2 gtd-350's at the right price would probably make me get my wallet out - just don't tell Vicki.

Still think a turbine powered milkfloat would be cool though.
