"Former BMC works driver Andrew Hedges and power-boat racer Tim Powell started building their own sports car in 1966, with the help of fork-lift truck makers Universal Power Drives. The new car was sold as the Unipower GT and used Mini Cooper running gear to great effect. Sales of the Unipower GT continued until 1970, around 75 cars were built in total."
I guess you already know this (as it was found with a 2 minute Google search) & the relevent point is the "power-boat racer Tim Powell". I've had a look through my old car books but can't find anything about Unipower other than the odd mention. Wikipedia doesn't mention these two guys either; only the Universal Power Drives thing.
Do I get the points?
