Take a chill pill guys we are all on the same side here. I have served on the BWS race committe and we tried hard for solutions and there are no "quick fixs" the upfront payment scheme may seem harsh but it does allow as Rod said 2 races @£50 a time and after that you should know if its for you. Also the clubs were finding funding difficult without a clear steer on entry numbers again as mentioned only a few would pre- pay and the uncertainty was not acceptable to race organisers. We want to be seen as a profesional so we are on the right track, There was a lot of TALK at the forum of needing time at our clubs to race at that level and regional but sadly there is not much happening, (Hunstanton excepted)perhaps it just takes time to filter through. It is wrong to assume the sport is on the way out, F3 has been a great success. The "old days" are gone move on! we have a fantastic new generation of young skiers and we have to bring them through, but this old driver may not have the years in the boat to finish the job with Jake but ill have a run at it.My aim is Juniors World Championships for Jake. Then out!!!

I would go back in the bouncey seat tomorrow Bazza but i would have to reapply for my licence and start all over again getting it signed at every race, it should be like your driving licence, once you pass thats it! no need to reapply. Anyway, i am happy to go to as many races as possible to support Jake

It happened when the old classes went! You could race a 13-15' boat with 50hp!. The differance is more could afford that type of racing instead of the cheque book charlie style of today!

Den see Bazza's post above, I came to the sport later in life as skier and have enjoyed it. Its not the cheapest form of motor sport, but anything mechanical that is raced generally will cost you! You can get a good boat and engine package
(x class) that can be used for racing, is competitive and can be used as a family boat. What other motor sport offers that? Yes at the top end money does make a difference, but it is still down to the skier. X class is a great success and has provided a much needed injection of new blood into the sport, along with the up and comming dauphins, bambinos and juniors.

The sport will survive, but we have got to move on . . . .

I totaly agree. You cant beat the sound of a 2.5 reving but we have had some great battles in F3 this year running the 150s. Its good to hear everyone talking about set up and prop choice and fuzzin out bow tanks before the race if it's flat. This formula seems to be getting the sport back to where it was when you hear the old school guys talk. And when you go to a club race at Hunstanton and there are about 10 f3 boats many of them waiting to do there first national, it can only mean good things for this formula and for the sport itself.

As the boats start to come through second-hand that's when it will start to become really affordable to anyone interested in sports boating. In the days when we had many more entrants in much smaller classes, the only way clubs like Seasalter, Varne or Whitstable could cope was to put boats on the beach before high tide. The crews would launch themselves and then haul their own trailers back up the beach by hand. Can anyone imagine today's prima donnas accepting that?

Cardiff was the race for that Gar163y, i can remember having to swim under water to find our trailer, then fart around undoing the winch to try and pull the trailer out, then finding out it was the wrong trailer and having to go back under the water and find our one, your right in what you are saying about today's prima donnas accepting that!!! cant get there alloy wheels wet for to long now days!!!
