I ran a boat over here with a couple of Windsor motors and while they had plenty of torque and performed decently, it was always a challenge to find aftermarket parts for them.
I bought the boat last August with that motor in it. The previous owner said he got a real good price on it, and you're right, hard to find parts. The IMCO exhaust had to have special brackets made for it to fit the block.
I'm talking to several builders about a 572 or 598 Merlin aluminium block with EFI making 650-700hp on pump gas, hopefully 87 octane. The boat is solid red, so everything on the motor will be red and chrome. Should look really good.
Also there is a guy in Kahleefornya(Guv's pronounciation
) who has invented a dual-jet drive system. He put it on a 28' V bottom with a 1300hp turbine and ran 0-75 in 6 seconds.
That should give me top holeshot with no worries about breaking a drive.
