Phantom 18 resto
Hi got my Phantom 18 in the workshop at last to replace transom, floor knees etc.
I’ve split the hull which is quite an easy job and makes a better job I reckon.
Wondering where the best place to get fiber glass resin and Matt to do the job??

I've used as they are local to me, very helpful and seem sensible on price.

phantom 18 transom restoration
Thanks for that guys, its all on its way now.
Surprised how easy it was to separate with just a multi tool from the inside. 2 hours and the hull was in 2 pieces ready for removing all of the rotten wood in the floor and transom, and a big clean up. Worst bit was up in the front of the bow where its very tight.

I believe 26” was the standard transom height…..suitable for a 20” leg.

Remember polyester doesn’t stick to wood very well. If your replacing with timber. Some use g4. Or vinylester or epoxy. Polyester makes a simpler repair but needs more mechanical keying.

The ideal engine is 70 or 90 hp, but some builders have installed engines up to 125 hp. With 70 hp, she will move faster than a fiberglass boat of the same size equipped with 125! This boat transom is designed for a standard 20" diameter shaft. The transom can easily be modified to accommodate a different shaft length. This boat is identical to my Phantom 16 that I rented at vistayachts.com, but 2 feet (60 cm) longer. All this extra length goes into the cockpit: the fore and aft decks are the same as the 16-foot model.

Hi can anyone recommend where I can get seats for my Phantom 18. I have the two original front seats but they’re in really bad shape. Anyone recommend a good trimmer to get them done?? Thanks

How did you lay the glass/tap in the knees?
The space in the back of my 18 Driver 560 is limited too leaving the only option to angle the knees like it's been designed with the Phantom 18.
Just used thickened epoxy to create a large enough chamfer?
