When you see all those production monos moored in Salterns, you can see why more people were aspiring to race! a bit like the British Touring Car Championship, they could see boats racing that looked exactly like, or at least similar to, their own Ski/Speed boats.

Agree completely Jon, when was the last time I saw a Mannerfelt BatBoat towing a ringo around the bay?

I assume the 30 refers to warlord - except I thought warlord was 31.

Yes has to be, it was built next to ours (although took somewhat longer!) When was the 28' Lancing Marine built? My mate has that mould in Belgium.

1975 Advert )getting very sad now)

Phantom 28

http://users.skynet.be/sky34435/

The guys name is Raf Jaeken, Above is his URL.

He is a Water Ski racer (very successful ) and now races Formula 2000 in europe.

I met him in Spain, he has a place there near my dad.

He is also a leading distributor for Merc and Yam parts at very good prices and next day UK delivery.

The very first Phantom 25'

Here is the first Phantom 25'

London and manchester Assurance driven by Bruce Nash.

It set a round Britain record, won its first race out (Fowey 81) and then Nash 'sold' the boat.

It was then later campaigned as Property Growth.

Here we go!...

John, how long ago did your mate buy the 'Phantom' 28 mould?

You see, Raffshore produce a copy of the P28, but the only ones I've seen (there are two over here), aint from the Phantom moulds, they're from a splash taken from an older boat. (different deck, and hull is of the individually modified OB style)

Matt, moulds went to southern Europe (Portugal) not Belgium.

And they're missing the Engine cover and Anchor locker moulds!

John, you clearly have a fabulous colection of media and pics, the intention is to create a database of stuff on the main Boatmad site with historic and nostalgic images, do you have the facility to scan stuff at reasonably high resolution? If so, mebbe I could pester you into doing some stuff for me and we'll get it going!

Also, if you have a nice collection of pics of your own boats, you should have a section in the readers rides gallery of the main site.

Raffshore... I have texted him with your questions, will post answers when I receive.

Yep I can scan at high res. My posted images are compressed, because I didn't want to fill up the server!

I would be happy to help, with your stuff

Re my archive...

Unfortunately, or fortunately for them I donated all my powerboat mags, progs etc. to the Powerboat Museum in Basildon.
They have a library there, and I thought my stuff would be of more use to them!

A customer of mine used to be a Powerboat photographer in the early 80’s (all from Tolemans helicopter) He said to me the other day that he still has the photos – I will talk to him.

PM me so we can work something out.

Basildon Powerboat Museum!

Been thinking about trying to organise a BM trip there. (my mate says it'd be like a "Carry on powerboating" film with allus nobbas wandering about.

I suspect he is fully aware of Boatmad, and it's usual reaction to 'splashing', as a thread called 'Phoney Phantoms' was one of the first on boatmad a couple of years ago, and caused a bit of aggro! Sadly the original 12 months of boatmad was lost when the database was accidentally deleted! 13.000 posts up the swanny!
