My first car was the the good old sapphire cosworth blimey did half sting me on the insurance!!

Dude when i was 21 it cost me a grand fully comp on a saff. that was in 97. how much are we talkin for you then?

JBD i rememberer now it looked like a london taxi from one side and a supercar from the other.:D

And the worsed bit for you was watching a full tank of petrol piss down the road:D :D

Back in the early 90's if you were 17 and a new driver it cost 800 to a grand to insure 1.3 astra's escort's etc. My mate paid £600 for his near 20 year old 1.0 mini clubman estate.

I paid £1200 a year in 1990 for a traders policy that let you drive anything, most traders policies then excluded anything begining with rs.

back in 87 i drove a new mk2 xr2,the insurance fully comp was £1200.had to sell my tzr 250 to pay for it!

Check out the wrecked exotics website for some eye watering fender benders. (ok, ok, so I have a morbid fascination with all things crashed - bet I´m not the only one......) not that this mini is exotic or anything.:dizzy:

It was, I'd only just filled it up and it was back in the days when I wasn't used to using 50 litres of petrol in 40 minutes. I was gutted!!!

It collected in a big puddle at the bottom of the hill and despite my warnings and an alternative route 50 yards back down the road people were driving right through it.

JBD looks like you were very lucky to survive.

The top of the drivers head rest used to be about level with the top of my neck, fortunatly when the car landed I had allready positioned my head in the passenger footwell. Its funny how when I used to park at an angle on a hill the seat belt would lock when trying to pull it but when the car was flying through the air upside down it didn't, theres a bit of luck!!!

Walked away with nothing more than a few cuts from the broken glass!!! :dizzy:
