The same numbers have been on her for over 20yrs and they are painted on ( I've recently refreshed them by hand) it would be nice if we could keep a 30yr old raceboat as original as possible but if not then hey ho .

I would guess you'll have to adopt 2-51 as your boat is no longer eligible for 3C under the canopy/200xs era

At the Guernsey National race, A-26 (for example) raced in Club Class 3, with their A prefix – A decision allowed by the RYA Powerboat Racing department and the organisers.
I think it is very confusing!
I'll post back on here with the BPRC decision.

Thanks ciao
If I've got to paint a number 2 over the C then so be it,pity tho as I've done everything to keep her as original as possible but understand if it has to be changed and we'll do as the BPRC wish.

Just lay some white vinyl over the old numbers and do the new numbers in black vinyl, you can preserve your originality that way

The whole boat Is painted Paul, it's alloy,we also have C-51 painted on foredeck,
If I overlay with vinyl it will prob pull the paint off when I remove it, I'll do what I can mate it's not a big problem..our hp might be tho lol, I'll paint them if I have too. Cheers.

I'll make a guess... That the RYA suck... to put it mildly...
I know of two teams who are refused entry for various reasons or another. RYA are a disgrace to powerboat racing IMHO. Even I can see that as a pure outsider.

Prefix letters & numbers
Here is word on Prefix letters & numbers.
"All boats must have the prefix that is relevant to their class.
HOWEVER, any race boats that are registered this year in a national class should race with their current national class prefix if entering into Club Class".
So, identical to the ruling that the Guernsey races have used this year.

Yet another rule that's lost its way !! Club class (Basic) should be as it says "Basic" with a means of identifying the boat. The prefix was pushed in to run a "Club" Class championship which was disbanded (cant think who by).

This is just bollocks !
Copied from Race Boat International
Two UK teams took part in a race in France after obtaining a 72 hour event licence.
There were no UK races to participate in, instead of sitting at home looking at the £20,000 investments, they decided to go where the action was and race against twenty plus rivals.
When they returned to the UK they applied for RYA licences but were told that as they held French licences, they could not be issued with a UK licence.
After proving that they did not have French licences but 72 hour event permits, it made not difference.
The ORDA race in Torquay suffered because these two crews were definite starters but were unable to take part and now the Cowes-Poole-Cowes is also going to suffer.
If our sport enjoyed the huge number of players such as soccer, cricket, motor racing etc two less teams would not be noticeable, but are you aware, there are more competitors in snail racing than there is in UK powerboat racing.
How low can it go !

Whilst I don't think it has been handled well - there is a lot more to this and you are obviously not aware of the full facts.
It is sensationalist journalism and not well balanced - although does show some of the problems we have with the UIM.

So are the full facts published?
May be the RYA officials went to the same school as council planners.

Adam, I'm becoming very wary of the use of terms like "you are obviously not aware of the full facts" coming out of the RYA and its associated committees, it appears to be something that gets wheeled out every time there's a ****-up or the rule books have been ignored and somebody wants it all to go away very quickly.
In this particular case, I think most of the racing community are in possession of the facts. it is known exactly what was done, when, by whom and why. Frankly, irrespective of whether "one" likes the persons involved, thinks their actions were "correct"; "in the spirit of the sport"; "against advise" or otherwise................ the rulebook is the bible and it (by any examination of them) reads as if these racers should be granted a licence. If its felt that the rulebook doesn't read that way, perhaps the real question is "are the persons interpreting them in this manner, fit for purpose?"
