Event Licenses

It has been agreed by the Offshore Racing Committee to issue more than the previous 2 Event Licenses.

For this season after the initial two you will need a fully completed (by a doctor) medical form (available from club secretaries) and on production of this at race control you can continue to use unlimited licenses.

From 2010 you will only be able to have one license (with self decleration medical form) followed by as many as you want on production of a fully completed (by a doctor) medical form.

So now there are less excuses !!

Good Luck

Bob

Thank you for the post I think that’s a step in the right direction & should be applauded, it will be used by a few I hope – Adam, Nic & moi spring to mind.
I have a bum load of questions on it which I put through the club rep or yourself if there is time at T’qy

Great News on the license's. From what I understand the Medical has been the RYA concern with event licenses,I've just been reading some old posts on licenses and some of the controversey this has caused,is there going to be the opertunity in 2010 to buy an annual Event license at £? with a medical or is it £60 every time you need one the first one being self certificated and the rest with production of the completed medical form signed by the doctor.I think this years National license was £350 so if you did say 5 Event licenses you would have spent £300 if you then wanted to do the 6th or 7th would the money allready spent be offset against the full license ?,if you take me as an example if I can afford to do a full season of Class Racing then great buy a National License,if I continue with Basic's I'd probably want to do (money permitting) 6 or 7 hence the question 7 x £60 =£420.I think most Basic Racers are or would be on a limited budget and would enter on an Event by Event basic and would be hesitant to commit at the start of the season to a full license. Also I think at most events the Basic class have less race's on the day so perhaps a reason to make an Annual Event license cheaper?.I raise these comments only in the interest of trying to encourage more people into the sport which so far I have thoroughly enjoyed.Nic

Following the ORC meeting of Wednesday 29 July the following decisions have been taken:

1. With immediate effect unlimited event licences will be available to all competitors
2. Competitors who have already taken two Event Licences in 2009 will have to obtain a full medical examination as per current RYA requirements for full licence applications before a further Event Licence can be issued.
3. Additional Event licences will be available from Race Secretaries at all events providing the new RYA Event Licence certificate is produced.
4. In order to obtain this RYA Event Licence certificate all competitors must return a fully completed RYA Licence application form which must also include the medical certificate duly signed and stamped by the applicants doctor. This Licence application must be returned to the RYA office with two passport size photographs.
5. On receipt of this information the RYA will then send an Event Licence certificate to the person named therein which will confirm that they are eligible to apply for unlimited Event Licences
6. The cost of Event Licences can be set against the cost of a full national licence providing a copy of the Event Licences are returned with the full licence application.
7. Competitors are reminded that in certain classes national points cannot be gained when Event Licences are used.
These may be purchased from Race Control @ £60.00 each respectively, along with temporary OCRDA / ORDA membership if required.

This is not actually in line with what was proposed although it is a step forward.
