As it's historical value has been destroyed, I would say it's worthless!
As a 'restored to original' it would have been glorious, but it's so 'bastardized' now, I can't imagine how you'd ever get it nice again.

'Waterfront' was owned by David Baker who had previously raced a Crestliner Rampage in cruiser class.
I think he currently races in the Honda 150 class.

Are we talking about the original "Goldrush"? The class II cat with the detachable sponsons? If so, I thought it was made of aluminium so thus cannot rust as such!!!!!

What was the story regarding the rigging and racing of the old cougar Romans Sabre?
Think TD could help me out on this one?

Raced as 'Marston Hotels' in the early 90's. Then sat for years at Merlin Quay happily disintegrating and providing shelter for all types of vermin.
Was then bought by Highland Events, re-named 'The Full Monty' and was used for their version of corporate hospitality and 'activity days'.
Numb Nutz could better fill you in on the quality and details of the 'restoration'.

It was used as the start boat for the P1 races.
I was asked to manoeuvre the boat out of the marina as the owner had only had just had the boat delivered by Cougar to Cowes the day before and was a little nervous. He took over once we got out of the marina and was fine.
Boat was actually very nicely done.

He was a decent guy too wasn't he - luckily, because I heard Tony Fiddy be incredibly rude to the guy for no justifiable reason, if it'd been cliff smith I reckon Tony would've taken a swim.
I liked the boat, and BPM's sounded lovely. Be interested to see it once it's properly finished.

Anybody remember seeing a fleet of Cougars (3 I think) in deep naval blue that a guy called Hayden-Bailey (surname) owned? I saw them in a magazine article once and they looked absolutely mint. The same guy also owned an old ´Brave Borderer´type vessel which was converted to pleasure - unbelievable quality workmanship (it least it looked it in the article). I think he kept them in a private dock on Southampton water somewhere. (Real James Bond stuff....)

Quite a nice guy.
The P1 people gave him a hard time too. He had two friends with him and one of the P1 start officials said " I've done all the P1 starts and passengers are not allowed on the start boat." Terry Herring (the Ass't OOD) was with us on the boat and replied "Well I've done thousands of starts and they are staying" which they did.
Hard to believe, here's a guy volunteering his time and boat and he gets yelled at. You have to love the welcoming arms of powerboat racing.

He had two Cougar both US-1 46's, Frode is currently fitting one with triple Mercruiser 1075 super charged engines and the other is in my shop having a pair or Yanmar 440hp diesels fitted
The Brave class boat is at Gunwhalf Quays, was originaly built for a rich greek dude, was called Mercury then, Haydon~Bailey spent loads and loads of money doing it up when he putchased it, when finished it was mint, he then had some cash flow problems and most of the toys where sold off, he still owns it but its looking a bit tatty now
