Good race all, we had fun despite not finished the race. super weather conditions 4 the rib... took some serious air marker 2 > 3. Hope to be there next year.... maybe pick some other UK races along. If sombody got pic's from FOR1 ( green "Ring") let me know. Was nice meeting some boatmad members in person.
special thx goes to the organisation - RMYC - RYA - NHYC

No excuse's here mate! Boat didnt go well at all i was dissapointed to say the least! It annoy's me just as much when you have a mechanical failure as when my driving is bad! You want ya boat to stay together for one hour for a race and it alway's seem's to break if its going to in that hour! Just chuffed to still get a decent position and finish.

Why did Ian not take part?[/QUOTE]
Things started to go bad for us just after we left the chain ferry. Got her up on the plane and headed off towards the muster, everything seemed fine, boat was handling the conditions nicely when the buzzer came on and our Optimax decided to go into Guardian mode. Plenty of water pressure, revs only about 5500. So we shut it off and then re-started it and off we went again, only for the same thing to happen. We got on the plane for the third time and gingerly headed for the muster area. It was at this time that we realised our participation in this race would be shortlived but we wanted to have a good thrash towards the first turn to see how the boat faired with the opposition. To let the engine settle down we decided to turn it off in the muster area until the last minute. That was the icing on the cake as far as our race was concerned because no matter what we did the damn thing would not fire back up. We sat there as everyone went howling off into the distance. We were still trying to get it started when the lead boat came through at the end of its first lap. We then gave up and were towed to buoy one where we tied up alongside the committee boat and watched the rest of the race. To cap off a very frustrating day, at the end of the race I decided to have one more try with the ignition key and felt gutted when the poxy thing started, so we made our own way back to the RMYC.
I know there are a lot of people on this forum that have had problems with the XR2, but in all my racing career we never had a major problem with them and found that no matter how much abuse you gave them invariably you got to finish the race. These Optimax`s just seem to have too many bells and whistles for me, I prefer to decide when to turn it off, not the engine decide for me. But we have to persevere with it and find out what the niggling problems are and hopefully get it sorted for Allhallows. It made it more frustrating for us because that was just the sort of conditions we wanted for our testing.
Great drives from Dave in Cider Daze, Stu in A30, Robbie Mould in the P16 and Bad Boy in the P21. CB1 looked good in conditions that were probably not what his cat would have preferred and Drew and Jan certainly showed how it should be done.

If it wasnt me why would i have a picture of it as my avator and have it listed as my boat underneath it?
The honda boat wasnt in front of me all the way and as i said before i had an engine on that was doing allsorts on the back and thats when it wasnt cutting out and the trim pump was in two pieces so the engine was trimming in and out as it pleased! I should of stopped really but kept going at a slow pace prob no more than 50mph and still got third in class so think what ya like m8 got no need to explain myself to you !!
Are you another person on the forum that is to shy to let us know who you are and hide behind a nickname?
