He most probably skimped on your engine then. You've probably got all the cheapo bits in it

right ive just found out full spec on my engine its a 280 offshore race motor running 260 electrics with high pressure fuel pump and powerhead has been fully ported by smilin jack florida otherwise known as jack bishop.the engine also revs to 9 grand.
we did some calculations and running a 26 pitch prop at 9 grand gives a theoretical speed of 118mph before slip,so things look good for a ton,if not a nitrous kit will be fitted along with a modified gearcase to hopefully ensure some steering

Roofer sounds like you got the power ot get there!!!
Why modify the gear case?
What do you have at present?
Your motor should hold 9k no problem mine pulls 8,600 with me skiing behind it, and my boat is alot bigger and heavier than you new one.
Who made your new hull?

we thought of modifying gearcase to improve steering if we use nitrous, the hull was made by phantom uk.

Hull??
Does anyone know what hull that is.
Anyone seen this boat before?
Roofer did you get the original deck on your new phantom, not that new thing that Clive makes.

If you mean the one in the pic above, it's a Frode innit? as in Michael Frode.
About 14-15 years ago they were being moulded over here under licence (as apposed to being made in Sweden by Michael) by Paul Hicks, of Puma Catamaran fame (He and Joe Donohoo disigned/built loads'a cat's, including both the 'Assagai class II boats of the Allenby cousins) I think the ones made here were 22's, or 23's tho'.
They've got a real 'shovel' nose on em, and very little recovery, they really quite like a good 'Stuff', got some vid somewhere of one submarining.

As Jon said the hull is a Frode, speak to Martin McCloughan at Power Products Marine, Martin ski raced one for a few seasons, could be his old one. Tel No 01634 711267, don't recall any others racing.
