HELP!!!!!
It won't come out!
Have attached air line from compressor, tried pulling it and tapping from back with a soft mallet,
Any ideas as to why it's stuck and how to get it out?
Could the wings pictured below be a problem as the lip on them goes back on itself?
Cheers, a very stressed Max

Neither half will come away from the seat, next step i think will be to put a rope through the wood support on the bottom half, blow in air and pull!
I'm thinkin the top half would come away easier without the bottom...

Max
things to do.......
1 relaease the flange all the way around the mould by using a blunt screwdriver and mallet.
make some small wooden wedges, tap these in every 6 - 8" around perimeter of mould.
it should start to release by now.....
longer wedges may be needed if you can get the smaller ones to open up a gap.
good luck, dont get too despondant, did you pva it?

Cheers, will crack on with that this afternoon.
I was going to PVA it but the laminator on the island who i got the resin from had never heard of PVA release agent and said it should be fine with wax... will use PVA next time though!
Thanks again, Max

ok but you painted your mould right? if its paint your working off you need to use SIMONIZ wax and pva.
if its a grp mould you are working off you can use mould release wax, building up over 5 coats.

Ok, it's finally out now!
Followed what you said and once wedges were in I hung it by the mould tapping the mould with soft mallet and working the wedges in every time it came further out.
It took the paint off with it so will just work from the grp now...
There are some cracks to tidy up around the lip where i forced it the other night and i'll probably put a bit more gel on the back. This one's only got to be cosmetically pleasing to hand in as part of a school project.
Just wanna say thanks so much as it was your pictures and write-ups that made me want to try glassing. 4 months ago I was going to send two ski boat seats to someone else and pay to have some cracks repaired. Also you showed me the basics of moulding and helped me along with getting this project off the ground...
So thanks Gav , Max

i dont want anything, just pm me yr addy an i'll pst you some....
get yerself a tin of SIMONIZ original car wax, its the only wax that u can use with pva. it doesnt contain any CARNIBURA in the wax, any other type of wax like the McGuires mold release will react with the pva.
