150 / 200 xr2 differences?

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me what the main differences are between a 150xr2 and a 200xr2? other than 50ish hp!!
I'm looking at buying a shakespear 20 cat from dodgydan on here and it's running a 150 xr2 apparently, but used to run a 200...
My gf's father used to race back in the early 90's (steve nicolle in case anyone knows him, dream stealer lorne campbell then lovely jubbly bubbly argo) and he's got a good nick 200 xr2 powerhead sat in the garage...
I've got the option of swapping in this powerhead but have also heard rumor it's only the carbs that are different, if this is the case i can get a set of 200 carbs even easier!
I've had a search around on here but can't find a definate answer, amazing forum though, can't believe i've only just found it

cheers

James

Depends on age etc, power varies a lot you can take 5 and they will vary more than you would think. Differences are configuration, carbs, reeds and cages, pistons and head gaskets.

Thats good to know, I've just spoken to a few people that have told me this same thing now! I thought there was a complete 50hp difference between them whereas i now know they're just slightly different and, as mentioned, there are plenty of things you can do to improve power!

I just can't wait to get the ball rolling and get my hands on her now dan!

Speak to you soon!
