Found the hull on OSO almost two years ago and it finally arrived in Sweden last summer. Got Vilda sold in December last year so I could start the new project.
It´s an aluminium hull that is made by an artist Beautiful welds and really good finish.

Congratulations.
That's a very good looking hull, do you know who designed it?

A building contractor by the name of Wayne Krause, Grants Pass, Oregon, USA, designed it for himself. It was built by Robert White at www.RiverWildBoats.com.
The bottom is a copy of the older Outerlimits 42 and it had 2 x 800 hp, 572 cuinch, natasp engines with ASD7M-drives. Some porpoising problems over 100 mph. With the tabs down it made 115 mph according to Rik Wimp(Arneson) who recommended me to buy the hull.
Question is, would you do Lyme Bay in CTC 2010 in it.
First thought is,where`s the rest of the structure. It`s well made and the usual question, how thick is it with no rivetting.OSO website says 4.82mm for topside (CUV is 1.2mm),6.35mm for bottom (CUV is 8.0mm aft and 5.0mm forward).A CUV has framing every 450mm,with 7 bottom stringers per side and 3 topside swages.
OSO says wt is 3250kg for a 44ft boat (Debenhams/Shockwave 48ft was 2500kg).
With 1600hp in it and a stepped bottom, the speed it did of 100+ is right up there, but as a rough weather boat, all those large panels in topside, bottom etc look a bit iffy. The saving grace is that it won`t be fitted with the sort of power to take the hull to the maximum, but then again you want it competitive.

Don't under estimate Mikko Graham, he's going into C Sport where the only competition right now is Hannes with his "funny RIB" and for a race like RB12 and London/Cowes to Monte Carlo I wouldn't have thought Hannes will come out in that so Mikko's on his own and can simply cruise it - simples.

Well, that`s one way of looking at it.So now we have a class created for one competitor. So the U.S. disease spreads!!!!!

I thought C-Sport has been a class from day 1 of the new rules? Building a boat to suit the rules shouldn't be criticized, it should be applauded. Especially when we witnessed how hard it was for Dean & Co to get teams to commit to RB11...
Either way, we'll damn well try to make sure Mikko doesn't have this class for himself .

Correct me if I`m wrong but `C` Sport is a bastardised class to suit the Buzzi clan, and now it stays.
Building a boat to suit the rules is of course the thing to do,but when you end up with one boat in a class, then you have to ask yourself the question, is this the way forward. The U.S. end up with god knows how many classes with min numbers, and because they created a monster, now they have to live with.
This could end up as another boring old thread on marathon rules,so better kill it now.
I will not get in to that discussion. We´ll see in the end of June 2012 if I survived Lyme Bay.
Very wise Mikko, that topic is a minefield. Just fit your FPT 500's and run.
No one is yet sure as to whether Lyme Bay will be your first test or the last, no info as to the course is on their web site yet which is strange as that is the first thing you get sorted, in my limited experience!

Agreed. But it would be interesting to know if anyone here has an idea what will happen to the rules in 2012? As far as I know the existing rules expire in 2012 and it would be a shame if boats eligable today would suddenly be left out in 2013... Any thoughts?

I´m not building a new boat to be a classwinner.I had the perfect Class-G winner in "Vilda" if that was the goal.
The Ilmors would have made the building much easier and cheaper but I have been working with diesels for a long time and have good connections on that side.
Talked to Volvo but in the end they could only come up with max 500 hp in the D6-engines.
I had about 465 hp in Vilda at the start of RB 2008 but hit trouble on the first stage with the engines going into safety mode.
Could only use about 75% of the power until we reached Inverness. There we fit std 435 ECU,s and got the speed up a bit.

Yeah, but with 1500 nm in RB2012 and 2400 nm in CMC 2013 the fuel savings should cover the difference. Plus, you'll actually be likely to complete all legs
