Awesome finish on that plug, and that has to be the cleanest workshop I’ve seen.
Two questions, what is the main layup on the mould, and why the two tone gel?

Errrrr, yes.

And I didn't choose the bunch of feckin wasters that were 'my team', I just got lumbered with em by the TV company. The other team were top lads.

And FYI, the other 'alleged expert' for the other team in that show was Kitten (a few posts above this) who's currently building the Bananashark 34 on this thread . We like to keep it in the family here.

Hey, 31mph wasn't THAT slow!

How have our merkin cousins done in the equivalent shows (junkyard wars?) when given the powerboat challenge?

Thanks for the input on the choice of colour; we will go for plain white as we can wrap it and sign write it easier.
Having visited the work shop on a regular basis since the hull plug was started,im blown away by the quality of build and attention to detail.Ive been in this game for 35 years and i have not seen quality like this anywhere else, the finnish on the plug is outstanding, and the mould is perfection, kev and his team has stuck to traditional laminating, which im afraid is lost these days, to many people are just bucket and chuck it merchants !And i know the same build quality with carry through to the finnished boat, the Boss 34 will be an awsome boat. rigger !

Hi Storm, the build has moved along nicely and Kevin’s attention to detail is more and more evident as the build progresses.

As you can see from the pics a lot of steel work has been put in place to keep the mold rigid and prevent any movement when it was turned.

Kitten - Jon was right the two tone mold is to help when gelling up a boat when the topsides are a different colour to the running surface.

Or the man in the picture is John Cooke, with a Robin Hyde face mask.

Should one assume from that comment that Nik will be campaigning one of these boats too?
