Ian was one of the greats of the sport.... Would help you with anything in the pits, but wouldnt give an inch while racing. loved his racing, the rougher the better, and his curries, the hotter the better.. Will be sorely missed. A true gent..

Deepest condolences to all involved from Guernsey, I was shocked and saddened to hear of this. I only ever spoke to Ian a few times and met him once, but he really was the nicest of guys. Rest in peace.

A true racer on the water and a total gentlemen off of it. In a small sport with many great people, he still stood out from the crowd. Thinking of all family and friends at this awful time.

I'm deeply saddened by this news. Ian was one of the nicest, most genuine people I've met through power boating and he will be greatly missed. RIP Ian.

Just heard the news, I had the pleasure of ian getting in my boat as a navi, to help me race also raced against him and my dad raced ham for years. A truly special man who never had a bad bone in his body. So long fella, rest in peace. And our thought's are with his family.
Paul and Graham Hastings.

I was deeply saddened when I read the news here and heard it on the news at 10pm, anything can have danger and sport probably more than most things but somehow you just never can expect something like this happening, as one of the many posters on this great forum it is truly a massively sad day when a member dies doing what he loved doing the most, condolences to the family
RIP Ian

Proud to have known Ian as one of the nicest guys in powerboat racing.
All thoughts are with his family, his friends and also the event officials during this tragic time. R.I.P.
