If it does 135mph, he'll have time to do some fishing while waiting for the time to be right to cross the P1 line

130mph will be before they have added any weight I suspect

Any idea what engines are in it?

Nice paint job

1300hp total according to the rb website so 130 sounds a little quick with a pair of 650's but i am sure others here would know better!!

I believe OSS boats are around 3600kg and have 2x525hp but it's likely the engines have more like 550-570hp, in there speed trials done on large rivers they achieve around 115mph set up for a speed run, therefore it may be feasible a boat running about 100hp more per engine and with more torque if they are supercharged than you would gain with normal aspiration may run 130mph set up for such...but as pointed out by the time 1000kg is added and the boat is set up for more general racing conditions like P1 if that's where it ends up speeds would drop considerably

I would think to achieve a real 130+ you'd need closer to 1000hp per side.

remember, to double speed, you have to quadruple the power.

I do agree in general, I did consider that, the thing that made me think otherwise was the likes of Reggie blowing his wig off at 180mph in a monohull...it set me off thinking these latest USA monohulls don't follow quite the same rules, they appear a lot more efficient through the water with any given hp, also it may be possible that the boats weight is even less than the 3600kg of OSS ... just a thought

The only time a boat can "appear" to not follow the rule is where they transtition to another lift more efficient state at some point in the speed range (padded V bottoms perhaps, definately cats).
Conceptually this is no different to a boat just on the plane being more efficient than one just off.
Nevertheless, outside of this transition process, the rule is hard and fast.
