There was a lot of pressure to encourage green motors, and discourage dirty motors. so if they were optis at that capacity, they'd fit.
Still really surprised it measures at only 26'5". I thought they were bang on 28' LOA, so am amazed you lose 19" in transom rake, even with the extra transom angle of the OB version.
might measure mine tomorrow.

I guess their are no basic boats ... ie ... run what you brung eligible to take part in the CTC such as an ex pro Vee boat etc that obviously would be outside the points system for the marathon series but could run anyway
But this boat could run CPC could it not as this is open to any type of pleasure/poker run style boat
Perhaps he should of got this instead ...
FABIO BUZZI designed raceboat. Built by FOUNTAIN POWERBOATS in 1998. FWIW, the boat was officially measured this morning, and was 26' 5" . Everyone, including myself were suprised at the length, but the tape measure doesn't lie.
The owner was understandably upset, but having spoken to Mr RYA, is relived to hear that it will all be sorted in the morning, and he will be able to race.
Dunno if any palms were greased, but common sense prevails, albeit with a slight rule change I expect!!!!!

So !! Jon, HOW surprised are you that it only measures 26' 5" ??
Sounds as though there needs to be a length tolerance !! 27ft + or - 8 inches !!
When OCR went to 2 litre the rule came out from the powers that be as Min 18'6". (with the exception of the Phantom 18 at 18' 4") and they now only measure 17' 11" but even this did not stop them !!

Yes - but they could be better - rules with most froms of motorsport do evolve and improve. Especially so with new classes / types of racing. This is not un-natural.
There are clearly many details areas where things could be better and encourage more competitors and also give more options within classes

A tolerance just sounds bonkers!
If 27' -8" is ok, the rule should be min length = 26'4". why would you have a daft 'tolerance' that basically says the same thing as changing the min length number?
Anyway, my own opinion is, a P28 is smaller than 'intended' for C class, so I think that is fine, however, I would say that in hindsight, a P28 should definitely fit in D without any issues, so D should certainly have the min length reduced to ensure this can be.
As I say, I'm really surprised the P28 comes in so short, and the 27' rule for D was certainly there expecting such boats to run in it and was clearly a mistake in as much as the assumption was 27' would allow this.
I will try to measure mine today if I can, not that I doubt the measurer, but mine's an IB version (and original, not copy) so would like to know for my own interest.

What you obviously need to do is fit a set of tubes. Not only would it then measure OK, but it would imediately become a much better boat.

Because then it would be in keeping with some of the other dopey rules that we seem to have at the moment !!
Its no more stupid than taking the length from the tip of the bow to part way along the boat !!
The simple way is to use the overall length !! ie From the front to the back !!
