As suggested by Graham, I've captured & encoded '63, '69, '73 and '74. however, after uploading the '69 video, the server refused to play ball with the others. will get em up as soon as it's in a better mood (they're ready to go)

Hi, Great videos really enjoyed watching my dad in 75 Jersey Cow, didn't really get to see her moving on the shore and wasn't old enough to co-drive (shame), I'd love to find the Cow but i know only two were made so think I may be out of luck. Alfie Bullen was the last person to know where she was if anyone can help me i'd be very greatful. Anyway keep the class III alive. Kim (Lusted) Jacks daughter

I understand from listening to the '63' drivers briefing things were very different in thoughs day:

"The atmosphere was gay with undertones of apprehension"!!!

All that aside I just love watching the old southcoast videos as they remind me of holidays in and around the Swanage, Poole areas of Doreset when I was a kid.

Wow fanastic, they are great Jon,
I cannot help watching the 73/74 racing trying my hardest to spot my fathers boat with little me in it around the start finish line shots.

One thing i do miss at the finish of the CTC was the way the winners boats moored along side the yacht and had the champagne celebrations on it while we all bobbed about close around it taking in the atmosphere.

Hey Jon you should ask Fred Dineage to cover next years event again.

1976 Crash

Your`e probably thinking of Alf Bontoft being killed in `Blitz in 1976.See video
in Multimedia section. It`s amazing to think Fred Dineage has been around for so long. There is even some film of him interviewing the crews at Torquay in the 64 race.

Still excitement for that old and glorious days!
Still thanks to Graham and the staff of Boatmad!
Incommensurable what you offer us!

P.S. Graham note the interwiew to Vincenzo in CTC 1973. Him English is not really only Coca Cola and Seven Up as repeatedly Crouse has written on his Searace....even if not to the height of Bonomi.

Video Notes

The mystery tape Jon ,is the CTC 72.It`s part of the tape you have already done entitled `The Greatest Race in the World` and maybe this is the same as Mike Lloyd`s tape from TP`S attic.
I have no tape of CTC 84,probably because the TV people didn`t make one ,being as the RB84 dominated the racing that year.
The early tapes were VHS copies of Daily Express/Embassy sponsored 16mm films, and when the sponsorship dried up,that was it,until Toleman and Videovision began creating tapes from 79 onwards after which TV got interested again.Southern TV did do the CTC in late 60`s/70`s ,but there were no video recorders then until 1973,and then they weren`t available to joe public.I managed to buy a machine in 73 because I said it was for educational use,and the first tape was CTC73.
So,no CT67 other than the B & W from Walton Films you have on the site.
CTC75/76 nothing bar the Super 8mm on site.CTC77/78 only the 5/10mins snips you have (not on site).CTC79 you have but not brilliant colour.CTC
80,81 & 85 you have (can be put on site).CTC83/84 no tape.

So,in line next say CTC 80,81,85 and maybe 79
Spithead 78 is OK (has the Alitalia boats and is rough)
LCL80/81 would ok as well.
Venice Worlds 79 OK

Mike Lloyd sent me a DVD with some interesting stuff on it, including a very good copy of the CTC '72 that you mention above. (greatest powerboat race in the world) It's quite good quality, so I've uploaded it as a large file (600meg)

http://media.boatmad.com/gallery/v/m...c+70-.wmv.html

There's also some early racing from Miami, and the Venice-Triest-Venice of 1977, but am having a bit of trouble capturing the Miami race at the mo. will post later.
