Thank you for explaining.
Looking through the net, who is the outlet for K4 RIBs.
I was trying to find any testing that has been covered by mags etc.
Because this rib is designed for all round use in a high volume market.
How many have been built in the last few years?
Are they still built today?

The K4 RIB story in short.

I started of the venture at a time when I thought it would be good to have an actual product in addition to my Design work. Only 5 were built in total and one was the boat that I still have and raced.

Soon found it pretty difficult to make profits from building boats - and many problems as I was using sub-contract laminators etc and not always available when needed etc. At the same tiem my design business bacame very busy and I could not devote that much of my time / efforts towards the RIB building.

I then sold off the moulds to Atlantis who built at least another three RIBs.

It appears they got into troubles / partners fell out / whatever. Anyway not sure where the moulds are now and have been trying to track them down as I have enquiries from other potential builders of the boat.

To add to what Adam has said about bow tank use, we rarely use a bow tank going downwind, although in some circumstances it can be usefull, especially when it is a confused sea. We of course have a totally different hull, and we probably have different props, centre of gravity etc. I would not recomend using and ballast forward going downwind unless you are very confident in your boats characteristics!

I disagree!

I would strongly reccomend any Round Britain competitors, especially those competing in the RB4 class, to add as much weight fwd as is humanly possible, especially where they're expecting to find a following sea. Cement is a good heavy material, so why not pump a few tons in the bows, and be done with it. You won't go far wrong.

Hope this helps

Surely that would require substantial reinforcement in the bow area - We reckon 10 layers of 785 gram aramat would help

Nope, just broke mine, dropped a hammer on it
Do think you will need extra rigidity in the bows with all that weight 'satin' it though
