The "Planatec" Project
Well ive done it and taken the plunge and bought "Double 2 Shirts"
Plan to be spending the next year or two refitting her and will keep you all updated with progress, pickie's etc.
Im really excited about this project, know it will be a bottomless pit but bought it through the Company for "Hospitality purposes" so may be able to right off some profit
Dont know exactly what the plan is.... but thinking along the lines of more of a pleasure craft rather than an all out racer, Jon recons big blocks so when in the States next week will keep an eye out for something suitable and make some contacts out there. If All goes to the plan that I havent devised yet will be looking for engines march'ish next year - Gant chart being drawn up as we speak, budget being set and re-set then revised...

If you're still thinking of going with the speedmasters, I have a lovely spare with gimble for you (from Warlord) 4 races old.

That's exactly what it is.
Yeah, had a look, I'm guessing that this boat would have had what's called a tailstock unit on each drive with a short propshaft to the gearbox / step up gearbox. hopefully those tailstocks are in place, though there's no mention of it in Peters list. I have a spare one of those too.

This is great news!
I can now add this progress to my school project i did 30 years ago on this boat!
She was one of my favourite boats when i was a kid watching it race in the CTC.
Was it the Radio Rentals boat or was that a sister boat?

Some pictures taken today when I was bailing out the foot and a half of water in her.....
New tarp intsalled dont want to get wet again.....
When your sitting in the drivers seat she dosent look that big (Pic 1) but when you stand on the engine bay doors she is MASSIVE. Overall not as much work as I had first thought (Could be famous last words) the structure of the boat definately looks as she was built to last and she is in amazing condition for a boat built in circa 1973.... Pics 2 & 3 although the upholstery does need a tad of attention, going to keep the same seating layout and was thinking of inserting a seat base with dampers... dont know if thats a good iead but thought it would be a bit hard on the legs standing up for RB12
Thanks to all at Drivers who came aboard today and the numerous offers of help assistance and available engines...... Gone off the Idea of twin XR2's think she needs between 800 and 1000 horses...
Will post again soon

Quoted for the purpose of ripping the piss out of you when you fail to meet the completion date. Would it make it easier if there were some sort of incentive?
Say liquidated damages determined upon demonstrable loss by the first client booking on the 24th (That'd be ME and the old school) underwritten with a typical domestic contract like the ones you used to try and stitch me up wiv.
