Barry, Tek Tanks are making our tanks, which for me is a bit of leap of faith as they produce in plastic, so we'll see. The plastic that the tanks are made of is not certified for use with petrol, only derv & water, so not a lot of use to you.

Ciao, are you still here? Why don't you go and boil your head.

This Ethanol petrol blending for low emissions seems to be a real problem with plastic tanks and fuel lines breaking down and dumping its contents. Is it an issue in the UK?

I believe that the issues are with fibreglass petrol (gas) tanks in the US that were built into boats and the latest fuels are giving problems with fuel lines and in some cases allegedly causing engine failures - As far as I know plastic tanks are not ok with petrol, and material suppliers in the UK (one that we use anyway) won't give us the OK to make fibreglass tanks for petrol only diesel.

I did once store petrol in a 25lts poly container. It lasted about a year. It gradually distorted at the base under the weight of the fuel and formed a small fold at the base which split. It didn't appear softened or hardened by the fuel.

Do any of the vehicle manufacturers use "plastic" fuel tanks for petrol? I know my (Diesel) fuel tank is "Plastic"....

Many cars have 'plastic' petrol tanks. They also produce a 'plastic' jerry can for petrol - so it is possible.

Finally you can buy a petrol or diesel dispensing pump station for farms. Teh diesekl one uses green coloured plastic and the petrol one uses black coloured plastic. For differentiation? or different chemical process in the plastic?

I thought green was for unleaded petrol, red for leaded and black for diesel.

Possibly for small jerry cans, but not for the fuel dispensers on our farms here.. All three farms have a bunded diesel pump, and they are all green. One farm has petrol as well, and it is black.

I thought petrol tanks had to be in the ground?
But as above we have a green bunded diesel tank for the forklift and minidigger at the house.

By the design of the thing, I dont think it is able to be burried. If you burried it, the fuel controls would be below the surface. It is ver similar in design to the diesel systems, except it has an ally cage built round it. It was as delivered by the manufacturer, so I am guessing it is legal. It is 1200 liters, possibly that makes a difference? The diesel ones are about 5000 to 7500 litres
