By the way Nick Barsch did win a lot of OCR championships (anyone remember Samsung Cameras?), and is still working with Chris Parsonages Class One team, and despite new engines this year and a budget a fraction of the big boys managed some respectable results. He was here this week and knows the Negotiator 225 team (Chris Parsonages son is the driver) very well as they keep the boat in the same factory.

Well its there on a plate so....... does anyone want to slag that one off? (Old design, unsafe, not quick enough at 85mph or too fast for safety to catch up, won t fit in to powerboat racing because its a Honda)
Our team will be racing one (new boat so I guess we'll be novice drivers not fit to race , unsafe etc. etc.) Actually..... its stable!

T
If only the cat class was not a one design!

Open up the design aspect and I would be really keen....

**********...and nearly died as I said to Tony outside of the Fountain pub, ‘if you think your boat is so f**king quick, then you drive it yourself. I’m looking forward to seeing you on the podium, knocking Negotiator into 2nd position because ours is so much quicker than theirs. I’ll be cheering you on all the way. Great stuff. You drive and show me, can’t wait to see you with the trophy!’ Jo was horrified, as we had already discussed that we were in an awkward position as even though we were in the boat and you guys had given us a great opportunity which I have always said. We never had any say in anything and weren’t in a position to kick arses into gear or to complain because you were paying the bills. Worst position in the world to be in. Our hands were tied.
Tony was gobsmacked. His heart sank . He so didn’t want to race the 225. You all virtually begged me to race, but I said with a smile that I was looking forward to seeing Delmar on the podium, after-all, it WAS quicker than Negotiator. When you realised I was being dead serious you then asked anyone you could find to race it instead of T, T remember had already admitted, ‘it scares me’ and ‘it makes me nervous’, hence the reason he didn’t want to race it himself. Me and Jo were the testers for the 2007 season ironing out any problems,
***********************
Sorry shara, but you go on about all this, and the delmar boat, as if it was new, and you were doing all the testing.
Its been a top running boat all its racing life, and yes like them all, from new could do with that little ltc, but it is a quick boat against the others.
And sorry, but maybe Tony should of asked me to race it, as its always been that little quicker than mine.
Its time to stop all the shit, face up to you could not do honda, leave honda to do what they do, and move on to your next task, and good luck with it.
I wish i was doing the Round Britain 2008 race.

Dellboy you clearly are not much of an expert on modern day cat technology. That picture is of an antique - nothing like the cats racing now - anywhere!! It is a very dated 80's design slab of a thing.
If you are considering having one for your team in the future you may be upset with the speed with one 225! (On a flat day it may pass your 225 mono)
Enjoy.

Nah that just about covers it.
i find the thought of Honda and a canopy with restriced vision quite "Intresting" heck look at the bumps & grinds with full un-canopy viz EEEKKK !!!!

Edit:
Before you knock the statement try a quick excercise.
Sit yaself down with a cuppa or a beer, pen & notepad. now log onto Utube & view the Honda promo Vid.
Everytime you notice something out of the norm just make a note, Colregs, bump, roll, near miss very near miss, driving no hands look at me I've won !!! ect ect. But be HONEST & Critical to what you actually see.
Surpring score eh !

You said Nick Had been involved - he was in the workshop this week (with his chequebook ) and I was just confirming that he still is doing what you said he had been doing - does that make any sense?

Is that so? I didn't realise that;-) But then I have a GPS installed too you know... and piece of TV footage with Shelly (I hasten to add in a very well prepared 225) stating on TV "Scream are absolutely flying!" from second place at that moment. It's pure fluke as the boat is almost box standard and little added prep, hence my comment about the latest Cougar boats. It took the coniston boat, ITV4 nearly 3 laps to take us and I was accelerating much faster than him until it broke down (sorry Honda ;-). Just those dastardly corners for me and that's just practice!

On discipline the rules are rules but the sea moves. The events are very tightly controlled but the racing with such a volume is in close quarters just adds excitemen: both for us in the team and spectators. I get no buzz out of chasing Vortigern, Daze and Williams for 9 laps or even watching boats in other series 100s metres apart from start to finish as I saw in other classes in Cowes. For some it is the thrill of noise and endurance like Le Mans and for others it is somewhere between the bmw racing and F1 which usually promises thrills and spills.

Remember this series attracts a lot of car racers and the boat is designed that way. Having one person to navigate and keep a good lookout with no power or engine responsibility and the driver with BOTH throttle and wheel to me is MUCH safer than a distracted co-driver. Have to remember this is very different from other forms of powerboat racing. Driver and boat are definitely more at one :-)
