Well if you watch the Cowes episode you guys won't miss it! We couldn't see the first mark on the start run.. Got a great start but nav decided it was a good idea to aim for Shelly and she was on the outside. Great footage from the onboard. I'll post it on YouTube sometime. Titled "how NOT to start a 225 race'! You guys will love it, more kicking bait! Bumped the Germans and crossed in front of 8 boats. But you have to be quick to be in front of them...ah! If only we drove in a straight line!

My only (selfish) concern is that when it happens (which I'm sure it will) and the lawyers, and do gooders get hold of it, and all the footage from over the years is used, the courts will have a field day with it, and they will make a good case that bad practice was encouraged. Powerboat racing 'generally' will pay the price, not just the mighty Honda class.

Powerboat racing will become uninsurable, ..end of. Then you can 'gob off' all you like about how great you all looked.
How come when you say it you are not called a **** that nobody likes? It is the same thing I said innit?

Looking at the Video - which is the only Honda racing I have seen - they look like they are bumper cars, and when they get thrown out, no one stops to assist, and sometimes even they drives over the competitors in the water. It is fecking dangerous, and that can not be argued. So for the good of the sport as a whole, sort it out. When you finally kill or seriously injure someone, all aspects of powerboat racing will suffer. Sorting it out now will be good for everyone.

The claim that you have more boats than any other class means you are allowed to bump each other is simply stupid.

I dont know, but I have been told of races startign with 50 boats and no collisions.

In 2004 we had 13 V24's with their aparent restricted visability going round an offshore circut with higher speeds and there was only one collision - when Ricky Hill hit Tom Powell in the middle of the race round the island! And that was an impossible place to actually have a collision, but managed it.

It's OK mate, they all think the same thing about me, but I'd ban em for it.

We're universally disliked, but I quite enjoy it.

Guernsey 3C European race. 1988.

41 boats went through the start line.

No crashes, impacts etc.

We had respect for each other, from what I have seen in the Honda racing - that is clearly missing.

Whether that be filling up fuel tanks with water, throwing other competitors into the drink (after the race), the whole thing looks like a s*** show.

Just remember one thing, 99 % of your spectators can't afford to race boats.

You are "role models".

For Christ sake set a good example.

Pushing the limits...

Some of you guys know better than to winge at one another. You should sit in the bar of the local Royal Yacht club and listen to a whole group of people that detest all of us! WE are all on "The Dark Side"; stink boats that should never be allowed out. I sailed into Guersey whilst the yachties watched and laughed at a power boy as he ran out of fuel and was heading rapidly toward the harbour wall in a serious blow...hmm

Now! Back to history and danger and irresponsibility...

Try single-handed round the world... or Fastnet or Sydney - Hobart or the history of The Round Britain and Ireland and you will find a multitude of death, lost at sea, heroics like Pete Goss rescuing somebody in a big blow in the Southern Ocean or Gerry Roufs I think it was who just dissappeared off the planet...and so it goes on and on and on. These are the leaders in Yachting and I bet any top single hander won't get banned from a race for cat napping on watch!!!!! And that IS against the basic rules of the Sea!

Sorry to harp on but the whole nation holds these people up as heroes...but I can't help but sit here as see such a fuss about 18 crews in boats that are so similar and highly competitive? Touch wood nobody gets injured but isn't the adrenalin based on the proximity to danger?

Yah! I'm starting to think this powerboat racing scene is for the faint hearted. You get a choice in life: The difference between doing and not doing is doing! Like voting if you don't vote don't complain!!

Yeeeehaaaaa!!!! I'm on a roll...oh no I didn't mean roll ...really!!

You know what, I really think you just don't get it. Quit being a wannabe superhero.

So, let's just agree to disagree.

like i said....

I couldn't give a rats arse if you all bang into each other.

I couldn't give a rats arse if you kill each other.

The problem is, when the inevitable happens, the grossely unpopular and so-not-green wasteful sport of powerboat racing will get torn appart by all & sundry, the lawyers, the QHM, the green lot... will rush in and jump on the band waggon declaring how "stupid, irresponsible and wastefull it is anyway".

Do we really need to give them the perfect vehicle for that crusade?

All this stuff about 'it can't be helped' and thinking you're the first ever powerboat class to have any competitive spirit which drives this is such bollox! get over yourselves FFS.

I shaln't comment further on this, it's pointless.

What on earth is that post all about?

I am starting to think think my mate "Kinfast" wrote that, but I know better.

Surely the point of this thread is to express concerns on Honda racing?

"You get a choice in life: The difference between doing and not doing is doing! Like voting if you don't vote don't complain!!".

Well I have done, got the trophies, certificates etc. to prove it.

Reading this thread from an outsiders or sponsors point of view it is not a good reflection on the sport or forthcoming events. Thread has ran and ran now getting boring, lock it down JF

Yes, I noted that and regarding setting an example, all the player does is slam his club on the ground.............it would be funny though - a promotional vid just showing people being hit with golf balls.......
