Interesting Comment on H.225
Taken from the Sarah Donohue interview in the Independent ( Link here )
" Last year she had an unhappy experience in the British-based Honda 225 horsepower series for the Delmar team. "We found it both unsafe and unfair. Without exaggeration, there were around 30 racing accidents during the year"

The RYA will have her.....
Stating facts is frowned down upon by the RYA. Lies and mistruth are held dear to those who wish to provide a united front to the media - provide an image that all is tickity boo in the racing world.
Actually, the 'united front' part is correct, and SHOULD (in the ideal world) be the way things run, but the united front is only one part of a two part process. The second part - the vital part - is that BEHIND the united front, the actual problems are resolved by the RYA.
Unfortunately the RYA forgets to 'do' the second part.
So the membership ( that is the drivers ) neglects to keep to their side of the bargan.
So what it needs is for the RYA to actually show that they are taking action and then the rank and file will start trusting them again, and things like Sarah's interview just will not happen.
( And by taking action I do not mean punishing the innocent and rewarding the guilty!!! Which is what they are doing at the moment. Providing the Guilty keep quiet, they will get rewarded, and the innocent banned if they talk! )

Would they dare to censure such a high profile member in the sport?

I dont know if it is the profile or the amount of trouble the person can cause that worries them.
Sometimes I see a whole lot of good things starting to happen in the RYA and other days I just want to get them an a room and go postal. It is frustrating. On the whole, I *think* things are going in the right direction, but slowly.
I also do not think that the RYA will actually take on Sarah for what she said, as she did not say anything much that peole dont already think. I mean we all here have debated the Honda group and their bumper car style of racing. In 2005 I got a yellow card for a near miss. Honda should give out 10 yellow cards a race by the same standard. Everyone, including the RYA is aware and as such I dont think anything would happen.

"Mike Ring did not know what he was talking about in 2007"
On the contrary! It was his finest hour!

I wish that all the other powerboat racing groups could pull together as much exciting film footage and sponsorship as the Honda Racing
Alltogether visually looks like a very well organised setup

Nobody is knocking close racing at all far from it. There is a long standing point about the amount of contact between boats whilst racing thats all.
Its normal race instructions make a note of ColRegs prevention there of.
So conclusions could be drawn from any incident rightly or wrongly
a. Honda do not have ColRegs in the race instructions
b. it is in the race instructions but not enforced
c. It is fully enforced and forms part of the racing
a+b goes without saying that nobody could ever admit to it
so they would all answer c.
problem with that is the boat on the long lap has right of way over the boat on the short lap . short lapper should give way allowing long lapper to pass well clear ahead so all a bit of a joke really. Coz there is enough video footage to prove otherwise ( assumes LH circuit)
