Looks like a knife in the back from ML from my view as an outsider.. or maybe he's just spitting feathers after viewing the awesome new video.. I actually cheered when the word MONACO came up at the end

Of course the Telegraph article was 'unhelpful' ...as, perhaps, it was calculated to be. However 'right of reply' is always useful

Really, really strong and productive meeting at London Boat Show today with 32 teams represented. A strong, inclusive, debate resulted in some realisable plans ...of which we'll share more in the coming days.

What can be confirmed though is that The Venture Cup fleet (and more) will be roaring down the Thames from the centre of London this June.

We're delighted to be able to announce the preferred route for the 2013 Venture Cup Prologue. We've taken on board all of the comments from the teams during a valuable period of dialogue over the past few weeks, and what follows is the most appropriate, deliverable and attractive solution at this time.

THURSDAY 6th JUNE
Event site and pit-area (wet & dry) opens at West India Dock, London

FRIDAY 7th JUNE
Scrutineering at Pits in West India Dock

SATURDAY 8th JUNE
LEG 1: Morning - Tower Bridge London to Brighton (approx. 170nm)
Mandatory stop of 1-hour minimum (fuel & basic maintenance)
To be considered a pit-stop, so boats can leave once 1-hour time completed
LEG 2: Afternoon - Brighton to Guernsey (approx. 160nm)

SUNDAY 9th JUNE
Lay day in Guernsey with local class racing & entertainment

MONDAY 10th JUNE
LEG 3: Morning - Guernsey, around Channel Islands (including Guillot Passage) to Northern France (approx 150nm)
Mandatory stop of 1-hour minimum (fuel & basic maintenance)
To be considered a pit-stop, so boats can leave once 1-hour time completed
LEG 4: Afternoon - Northern France, around Channel Islands to Guernsey (approx 150nm)

TUESDAY 11th JUNE
LEG 5: Guernsey to finish-line at Bournemouth Pier (approx 160nm)
Various marks to be included to add 'spice'
Final pits & extraction will be in Poole, followed by prize-giving and celebration

ENTRY
Entry list will be open from Thursday 31st of January.

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
As you are all aware, this event now has all our teams as the principal focus. We're therefore working hard to find ways to provide additional assistance. There include:
- low cost fuel (Guernsey is one of the cheapest locations in Europe for fuel)
- accommodation deals in London, Guernsey and Poole
- transport deals to/from Guernsey
- logistics support to/from Guernsey
- additional practical supports to reduce overall costs of entering the event

LONDON TO MONTE-CARLO 2014
This is still 100% going ahead, and looking more and more positive each day

Now let's see if I have this straight. What was originally the Cowes-Monte Carlo and then the London-Monaco is now the London-Bournemouth with a side trip to Guernsey thrown in?

Credit where its due, and the fact that you got the ok on the thames in itself is an amazing achievement. it may not be what was originaly planned but it can only pave the way for future events. this could be the kick start to great things. I know its too late but would have been great for class 3 london to brighton again. Could we ever see putney calais again?

I believe the idea of putting the Brighton stop on the first day is to include boats with smaller fuel capacities - maybe the Class III C guys would like to petition the organisers to be included in leg 1?

Cookee's absolutely correct - this year is all about making it as accessible as possible. Get boats involved, give them an idea of what this is all about, and hopefully get them to commit to the BIG one in 2014. I'll probably be shot by those more familiar with such matters, but I don't see any prob in smaller classes being part of the spectacle and adventure from London down to Brighton. They won't be able to utilise the Tower Bridge start as that's only allowed for the main race fleet, but they could kick in somewhere possibly around Greenwich ...or further down-river. As it is, we're speaking with BIBOA about a rib rally, and the RYA Motor Cruising department about something similar ....all to run alongside the main racing fleet.

Ben - the BIG race is 100% on ...but in 2014. At a meeting of all the teams on the 12th of Jan (at the Boat Show) it was agreed that we needed to do things in a robust and deliverable way. This year we test the boats, crews, officials, logistics, etc. in a short 'Prologue' race (if 750nm+ can be considered short) and then next year is the biggie from London to Monte-Carlo. The work on the 2014 race is ongoing every day at the moment.
