Plugged two of the dash holes, epoxy lots of. really need to get the helm in to see how high up I can cut hence its a little uneven as I stopped halfway through when the thought occured. Will be a paint finish to the dash so I can hack and mod as required best way I think.

Landmark

Sat 15th April

Finally finished pulling all the stuff off, repairs done , dash to finish. Landmark, now its all getting it back in. That will be a couple of months with the painting as well to do.
A lot of time will be lost sourcing some stuff but thats the nature of the beast. grrrr
Found one positive about being so lanky, I could reach through the deck cutout a feed out the fuel hoses, Feeder Tank ect, ect. OK it took two hours but I managed it, I didn't think I'd be able too and was thinking I may have to remove the RH aft deck but fiddling & swearing paid off in the end. Both hoses failed a pressure test so they had to come out.

Bloody Great Sat 22nd April and no further forward , looks like I'll be spending the evenings of next week, welding, grinding Drilling & tapping the jackplate, was a bit messy once it was all apart. I think I should have given up on it but I'm a bit of a bugger and stick with something when really I should have moved on. Theres only the slide rails that are original left. not even a stud survived.

Think this is the low point right now just not moving as quick and as easy as I hoped. Still come out of it once a few more bits arrive & get done.

Plan it to get the gruppy fekken old welder at work to do some welding this week then machine back to profile & assemble with lots of this.
Anodizingis pretty shot in most places and isn't worth redoing, so it will be that Barney Purple colour again

On an upbeat note I did manage to finish folding & drilling the internal transom plates, they are a copy of the ones that came out but the original were cracked on the fold, These are folded Then welded along that fold. Stainless but it was a right old scrappy bit that I just couldn't be assed to polish, here in Waterproof Etech primer, wating to dry for some colour tomorrow evening.

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Jackplate...................Helicoils going in the motor body, now this is very unfun but at least the guys in the machine shop have shown very willing and really mucked in. Time they are spending must make this the most loved plate in the UK. This is going to cost lots of beer. Converting it to metric as well as its easier to get the nuts & bolts.
Try and get some pics later but they are a photo shy bunch, bloody ugly too...

Original had cracks in the fold. I suspect due to the thickness & hardness when made, as it was cold folded so the NDT guys said. So Rather than just fold the new ones I'd had a seem weld as well. guess overfussy I suppose. It could have been heat treated but there is only so much you can get away with as a "Homer" without rasing the profile to much ........................ Pretty much most of what was there on the boat has gone through Shotblaster, NDT, Machine or welding shop just a few small bits left to do. Then the prep & paining, that I am not looking forward too. It's bloody big.
Will have to make the powerplant final choice soon for the rigging options. I have given up entertaining XR2's & 200XS options it seems a bit pointless as I have no intention of running F200 or IIIC.

WHO-Bloody-Ray one slide plate done & Etech ready for colour. All helicoiled, welded & ground back to a better shape, grumppy welder lived up to his title but I pulled rank. Havent quite mastered the macro & flash function obviously. but it is a lot better than the prev pic (Otherside 2) well at least the holes a round now
