Nice to hear he is still around last see him when I was living up at Virgina Water picking up a chineese at the pitch & chips.
So where we got to on the Midas
well !!!!
the steering Ram is leaking like a pig so thats not good, back to Latham I suspect unless I can get a service kit out of them

Metal trim pipes got chopped off on the transom plate when going full down on the lifter,Still thinking on that one will replace & either go through cowling or get them bent 90deg outboard & come under the saddle or just junk the standard & go with through deck fittings & custom hoses that I can run outside the saddle & up from the bottom

Tilt tube grease nipple it hitting the transom plate, will replace it with a grub screw and maybe a tad with the grinder as the R&P mount hits soon after.

Engine cranked but not fired it yet as I may pull it off again a just go with a custom 1" spacer between the lifter & transom

Edit: Transom Clearance issue is because I had a change of Jackplate & it didn't occur there would be that much difference in setback if anyting I reckoned the Grollia had more than the old L&S one but in fact it was the other way round

Hello mate,
For TheMutzNuts I ordered some hoses from Moreland hose in america, to go straight from the trim ram, out the bottom of the saddle, then up the gap in the lifter, then they came out the side of the lifter at the top with the lift hoses all inside a inch and half pipe so all looks neat and helps with the clearance issues,
Also, we filed off the little lugs on the front of the clamp, and used a half inch spacer from T+H marine (i think) and that means the clamp will pass the transom, with only the pan hitting the transom when its fully down.

Plywood is cheaper, easier to source, and so much kinder to the motor.

One piece trim hoses are available from Merc, in a range of lengths!

Right motor coming off again and going for another 1" of setback. It really is the only logical answer other than grinding away bits around the tilt tube & will simplfy the hose issue.
Still taking one step forward & two back on all the other fronts so I dont see it getting to far over the next few weeks. but sticking at it
no where with the ram service kit.
wing plate I'll have to get re-done as I didnt quite get the measurement right but will know for sure when I bolt it up. think I might give up on the motor side for a week & play with some wires.
none of the other bits will arrive before wens now anyway

Just got in from splicing the loom to the Electrical connector. Went Ok till plug connect the Merc 280 harness plug only had 7 pins not the normal eight. Of course when you look at the wire diagram for a 280 it only shows 7 WTF but all harness have 8 pins???? . scratch me b**ls knock of 1/2 a bottle of Nuits Saint Georges whilst looking at it................ PING Black with yellow is missing (Choke) Dolt EFI ain't it.

Not too keen on the idea now of my Overheat PTT as I can see the ECU reading that as a genuine warning & having a wobble & then needing a bit of DDT love. will take that out of the loop in the week or put in an interupt for the test

EDIT: that should read Yellow with a Black Tracer hic :

Not a bad day Electrics are about 50% there now same for the fuel system. Still wating on some Earls hose & fittings to finish the fuel system, not too impressed with em really not as great as the price demands . Tip to everybody else buy the cheaper alternatives off ebay. Push fit my ass they were a pig, split fingers and all kinds of expletives

Saturday, No kids, not hacking down with rain yipeeeee. Was -6 when I started though Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Motor & jack plate off.
Drill & fit the marine ply spacer (14 coats of Epoxy, well I was bored on thoose wet evenings). Motor & jackplate back on, Refit the lifter pump and bleed & function, its not even get dark yet !!!

All clearance issues now solved, still thinking on trim hoses might cut them & fit some -4 end fittings & run through hull, would be cleaner.
Dome nuts on the engine serve no useful function other than coving the stud end and give a cleaner finish. Will start cutting the loom & hoses to length now and connect.

Bit of chinscratch on the height might be a tad on the high side even when fully lowered, but fek it I rather fit a remote pickup to be honest if its an issue down the road.

The boat will have a higer threshold than the driver

Bit of an unknown, compaired with "Turnning Point", Midas is a lighter boat with an extra 60 bhp, which could work against it and make it all a bit flighty, but I've topped 20 stone now so a bit more up front for ballast

Reproduced from a previous thread

"Cat averaged 79.7 mean of two runs between piers in Bournemouth bay speed testing, also averaged 70 mph round IOW"

Loser wears a Butt Plug on the forehead for prizegiving.

Finally got a chance to potter a bit today, Fitted the wingplate & attached the Dry Stack hoses, (pic1), Got all the steering hoses cut to length now the engine is in it's final position This is it at its highest setting, lowering on the lifter will give a little more bend at the Deck fitting end(Pic 2).
Started to connect up the Bow tanks, (pic 3).
Dan did a cracking job on the BluFin "Bulletproof" Clevis pins Satin Stainless try a break one of these fekkers. Just hated the look of the off the shelf plastic ones
