Yes, 380hp a side would be nice. Cheaper though to just buy one of your speedo's.

Can't wait see all you guys growling at each other out on the water. I am sure I don't have to say that it's not top speed that will win in this race. A few other words come to mind like cunning, tenacity, sheer grit, determination, reliability plus a lot of Lady Luck what with Lobster Pots and fishing nets etc.
It sure is going to be fun watching and probably wishing I was down there racing. But I do remember the days when I used to think, "What am I doing out here, it's hurting" Lady Arran had it sussed, she had her Gin & Tonic - more Gin than Tonic I remember - on tap all the time, it drowned the pain!!

was thinking about Hasla marina or port solent, if this is crowded already we think Brighton will be an option?

Based on the performance of the existing 29 foot rib the dry weight needs to be 2115kg to achieve the same Levi factor. If the speeds were mph then 2893kg gives the same Levi factor....2893kg sounds a bit more realistic...Stunning looking rib though.

Great RB08 drivers briefing on Saturday at Drivers Wharf, over forty race teams attended and the venue was packed to the doors. More details on RB08 web site.

Mike, on a separate note, I've heard there's been a number of people enquire from here, and the US who have boats that fall outside the rules, because of engine capacity, or number of engines, or corrected engine capacity due to forced induction petrol motors.
In the interests of increasing the participation in the race (and the hard cash that would generate) would it not be possible to 'add' a class for all those that fall outside the current 'superclass', maybe it could be called 'X' class.
The only situation where I could see someone getting the hump is, a team who see themselves as having a chance at overall honours, which as we all know, Fabio is going to take anyways.
I really don't see why we want to limit entries, especially at the top end of things.
Big blower petrols etc may not be ideal, they may not stand a chance against the likes of Cesa, but who would we be to stop em trying if they wanna have a go?
just a thought.

A good thought as far as I am concerned.
This has been buzzing around in my brain as well for some time. I did say on here some time ago that we missed a huge opportunity in not letting in the really big triple engined jobbies and have had several enquiries from the USA and a couple from over here.
RB Class X would be an excellent class to allow in those race boats that we have excluded through a lack of knowledge and foresight basically and I think it is something that should be put into action PDQ if we are to have any chance at all in still getting these guys on board. It would also bode well for the CTC.
50ft max boat length, 40,000cc max (to allow for triple big blocks as we used to see in the old 40 odd ft Cougars and for supercharged engines which carry a 1.4 penalty) and ditto for diesel. No limit on number of engines!
That would be a good basis to start with and it will be interesting to see where the holes are. No doubt you will all tell me very quickly!
