Suspect that all the race boats will do less damage, to wild life and pollution, than a trawler on a single trip.

I assume that 'FRIENDS OF THE EARTH CYMRU' have got the hump because Friends of the Earth worldwide didn't want to have anything to do with this protest?

Hmm…loads of new pics of the goldfish 36 on the goldfish web site (www.goldfishboat.com)….the rigging looks exceptionally nice and expensive….lets just hope they have spent as much time making sure the boats perform…

just got in from looking round port solent and gunwharf, amazing machines and really inspiring to see such a different mixture of craft.

was great to see a buzzi hull up close, or rather four of them. adams rib looks very impressive, mercury's really suit the transom. garmin racing looked great in the water, can't believe that was the birds nest at the back of the factory a few months ago.

anyway, good luck to all, i hope you all get around safe and remind this community of what powerboat racing is all about

The RB08 Report.

Had the main briefing last night. Room full to capacity and standing room only. 47 teams now and all very excited (we have lost the jet boat).

Still a few horror stories (Gee is the main one, went in the water and the props didn't work!) Found Tom & Charlie (Williams Hawkes) changing the trim tabs for stronger ones!). The Jersey boys seemed to be busy doing something in the cockpit and I saw my old boat (The Flying Flipper with Hutchy) going into the water, that was emotional but it looks great with the twin 300hp Optimax's on the back, That looks a great runner but we will see. Jeff Hunton said that Garmin is starting to come together and showing good speed. Not too impressed with the "Lean Manufacturing" Sunseeker, will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to see how that one goes, had a chat with Neil and he told me that it won't be a front runner until later on - maybe. I have to say that the Scorpions look impressive, You should never discount Neil McGrigor, Mike Deacon, Chris Stricland and John Puddifoot, all higly experienced long distance racers. They should have a great race against each other. Haven't seen Jon and Nick's Phantom 31 yet. Looking forward to that. The new one with the two girls is quite superb. Well it should be for £200,000! Sat in the cockpit and everything was in the right place and just felt right.

Some of the Cruisers are looking VERY good.

More info Sunday morning.

ML.
