Just seen that the last report on Ocean Pirate is them doing 41kts down the Solent at 20:42. Sounds like a long night for them if they're heading for Plymouth.

What a shame.....

Poor Declan, what a fantastic opportunity 'wasted',

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7467573.stm

Why couldn't any-one have held Declan's hand, or at least had him on a boat enjoying the action....'live' BBC coverage would have been so valuable for the sport and the race.

Hoping that everyone has a fantastic time and returns safely!

Send a message via Skype™ to ciao!
With 6 to 9 meter wave height in the Bristol Channel today's leg has been cancelled.
The fleet is now headed by road to the next port of call Milford Haven.
The race from Milford Haven to Bangor will start later than advertised -more later.

That's a good idea 18 - 27 foot wave height

Sorry to the chaps in Plymouth the start would have been something to see

Very impressive price tag at over £300K !!!! but they look sensational.
How come the second goldfish 36 did so poorly in relation to lionheart ?
Some strategy you think ?

There's been a lot of work going on in varous Goldfish engine bays!

seems the 380 is mounted using velcro for quick changes.

The rigging is indeed lovely, shame they're a rib really.

I thought they had 'lay days' in case of weather. Why not just hang in harbour one day - then progress? It seems odd to run a leg of the race by trailer.

Surely the whole point is to do it by boat?

Why have 3 days worth of 'down time' if you are not going to use one?

Just looking at moving the boats by road, i didnt realise its about 250+ miles with a boat on the back gotta be about a 5 hrs drive.
Would have thought if everyone involved agreed a lay day may have been the way to go.
Still hope the weather clears to let everyone race tomorrow.

Sounds like a long haul and it's a shame it must be as frustrating for the drivers as it is for the organizers. I hope it all goes well for them.

I see one boat from RB4 class: No. 102 Team Pulsar/Vampire is at sea and heading for Lands End - good on them, but it will be a rough journey.

You're nearly right - it was the German "Fairy" - only two years old and lotsa money sank before the lifeboat could get to it off Start POINT!

I was in Plymouth to see them come in and Drews crew looked like they had been on a cruise, some of them looked rather dazed and no doubt very glad of a day off today - I'm flying to Bangor in the morning to do my stint with Gordon and Brian Peedel on R3 from Bangor to Oban - I just hope there are some boats to meet up with otherwise I'm going to be Billy no mates in in Bangor!
