Just got back home from watching the boats pass out to the Needles. As usual it was great to see the fleet of racers and get some photo's for the album but something was missing from the event. Noise, as an avid fan of powerboat racing and having witnessed many CTC races and round the island races in the Solent, i was deafened by the silence as these great boats passed by.

Diesel engines have killed the excitement for spectators in Powerboat racing.

Still, it was really great to see all the competitors on their way to an adventure of a lifetime and i wish them all the very best of luck.

Just back from Hurst Point watching the fleet go by….Wetpunkt looked really fast…do to quite chaotic traffic conditions it was difficult to get close to the fleet. Adam was also looking fast, will post some photos as soon as I can find my camera cable.
What the rules with regards to the non-starters, can they still start or are they now out of the race?

I believe that as long as they arrive before "time Out" then it's ok or the possibly get dispensation.
I heard Buzzi didn't have the correst documentation !!! tried for a British Licence but refused to race under British Flag....................but that is JUST a rumour

Just got bacl from Portsmouth.
1st start fantastic. Will try and post pics later.
I thought they ballsed up the 2nd start. The yellow flag was still raised across the Harbour entrance. Didn't even see the big boats really get going.
Anyway good luck everyone involved.
Graham.

I watched the start from Southsea. Look a few sick boats came back in just after the start.
Ocean Pirate, Cinzano and Blastoff were 3 I saw come in to Pompey.

Later on saw Blastoff exiting the harbour making for Gilkicker point about an hour late.

Garmin had problems from the start and was travelling very slowly along the course.

I assume as long as you made the start, you can come back in for repairs and then resume the race.

By the way, hats off to the organisers for getting this off the ground. It really is inspirational to see the boats out there. Its just a pity the media haven't taken more notice of the event really.

Just got home having spent a couple of days at Gunwarf & Southsea. I was able to take some reasonable photos, but when trying to video with 'sound' the family next to me decided to start moving around and the kids shouting and screaming. They thought nothing of just walking infront of the camera fitted on a tripod and totally blocking the view.
Last night I saw Swipes still being put together at Port Solent while all others were making their way down to Gunwarf. Really glad they made the start and hope it all holds together.
The first start was late but they looked good passing Southsea castle. The second start was a bit disapointing as they were under a yellow flag well passed the start line.

Jon's boat Swipes getting ready at Port Solent. Looks good, nothing being held together with duck-tape, just a great professional rigout.

I'm comming up as 1005 on Marinetrack. Think we've bust it.

How did Hot Lemon do? I've got a pal Graham onboard but no way of finding out how they finished.

Thanks for that Hazardous.

Everyone safe and accounted for I hope. I thought team Dubois might have been further up the board, their boat looked very well turned out - must of stopped to do a bit of shopping maybe?
