Couldn't keep this one to myself. Chris Davis, the RB08 Offcial photographer, has lent us some pics taken during the 1984 RB race. I am attaching this one as I think it is simply iconic and was probably taken about an hour before the start. The others will be posted on the RB08 web site later. There will be some fantastic pics there as well.

The RB08 Launch
The launch of the RB08 on Friday 30th November was a huge success. We were so pleased to see so many of the race crews supporting the event, many in full team regalia and so many “supporters” of the race joining us on the stand and at the launch on the stage. Our stand was full for many hours.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people without whom the launch of this great race would not have been a success.
Firstly Jon Fuller and Nick Gilley for the kind loan of the two Plasma screens and their time in setting up. The Clothing Company for the supply of items of race clothing for the teams to view, Tim Jarvis of Jarvis Champagne for his support and the supply of copious amounts of Champagne for our many guests and Jacqui Missen, our PR lady, without whom this launch would not have taken place. It was her drive, on going support and sheer hard work over many weeks that got us there with all the “bits and pieces” that needed to be done. We couldn’t have done it without her.
The speeches made by Ray Bulman, Time Powell and Lord Beaverbrook were superb and their support and endorsement put a final seal on the race. We are pleased to say that Tim Powell is now well again and we have asked for his continuing help and guidance over the coming months in his capacity as Race Chairman. His wealth of experience of putting on races of this magnitude is unequal in this sport and far greater than anyone else in the industry, don’t forget he not only came second in the RB69 but he also organised the last RB in1984 plus well over 20 Cowes Torquay Cowes races over the last quarter of a century. His advice and support will be invaluable for the success of this race.
ML.

Right you horrible lot, this is probably going to get me banned from here (don't all clap to-gether) BUT, Can you not realise that by listening to title tattle and the back stabbers you have now put the RB08 in jeopardy?????????????
OR are you to stupid to realise this ??????????????
It seems that the "wonkey-eyed arse hole" who was shit stirring at the launch last week of RB08 and e-mail all and sundry when his tongue wasn't up puddifoot/manchester et alls arses has it appears put many if not all rib/scorpian owners( and yes even I know scorpions are ribs) actually from paying there next payment (due to-day) entry fees. Apparently our great and dillusional national authority manager has got them all to with hold there entry fees.............................................. ...................
For those who have paid or Royal Mail is a bit late with the christmas rush delayed the arrival of your payment/entry I sincerely and proffusely ( I know I spelt it wrong) appologise BUT to the rest of you ****'S can't you see you are being used as pawns to wrestle the RB08 away from ML and into the hands of the RYA??????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????
DO YOU WANT THE RACE TO GO AHEAD or NOT??????????????
Please, please back Mike LLoyd and ignore puddifoot/manchester and EWH.........
I am not an entrant but already been told I won't get a licence!!!
But I want this event to happen as is and not to quote one of the good guys on here
" BELIEVE THAT IF THEY WERE TO ORGANISING THIS EVENT (BEARING IN MIND,THEY HAVE HAD 23 YEARS TO DO ONE, BUT UNLIKE MIKE, THEY HAVEN'T) THE LIKELY COST TO THE COMPETITORS, AND SUBSEQUENT RED TAPE, RIDICULOUS RULES AND THEIR USUAL NONSENSE WOULD MAKE IT A NON STARTER BEFORE YOU COULD SAY "licence fee". I REALLY CAN'T THINK OF A QUICKER WAY TO KILL THIS RACE "STONE DEAD" THAN TO GIVE IT TO PUDDIFOOT AND HIS TEAM OF MONEY SPONGERS TO SUCK DRY!!!!!!!!!!!!"
So if you want this to happen put your money where you bloody great gobs are and cough up......NOW

What's the official line why they have withheld their entry fees?
Doesn't that mean they are no longer entered?
Or is there a heavily loaded entry fee for late entries?

I do not have access to ML's thoughts on that but suspect that people genuinely with late payements will not incur a penalty but those playing political games should in my humble opinion told to go forth and multiply.....................but not in so many words...
With regard to your second question I hope ML will allow a short breather.
But anyone taking the piss should not just be removed but banned.

Yeh, but you assume a reason has been given, which you allude to in your original post.

If you are refering to the non payment to race fund of the next entry fees payeable then it is tactics by the arse lickers to put the race in jepordy/in short trying to hijack the event. For their own ends...
I still think it's time for ML to tell puddifoot and his little band of rimmers to feck OFF and go it alone.................But that is MOI talking..

They are the same people who got the engine rule changed for RB3 back in April, with the help of BIBOA, that is why it is the only class where petrol and diesel are not the same cc. Its was done to keep the Yanmar 440s out of their class, but to keep the Volvo D6 in. So now the rules have been changed for them they don't want to race?
What has also happened to their request for an exclusion in the rules of water deflectors for all RIB entries. Maybe this is why they do not want to pay, the rules are not how they want them.

It is fair to say that ML is getting "ever so slightly pxxxxd off!!!" but will no doubt keep going to the sticky end!!
He is not that surprised that the anti camp are making it difficult but go for it Mike....ever onward!
If RB08 does not happen we will all be aware of Mike's endeavours ably assisted by Jules! They have worked so hard on this and deserve more support from "the powers that rule!"
I am sure that this week will see the serious entrants and also those with legit late payment reasons either making payment or advising of thier own situation.
