I thought someone would have bought that yellow Hunton 37 at Hamble Point for the RB. Its been up for sale for a couple of years now. Its got to be worth making a reasonable offer, can't remember what engines its got though. I think maybe twin Yanmar 315's.

I reckon thats been up for sale ever since it left the factory. I think it used to be in Hythe Marina.
Most of the boats advertised in the UK have been up for sale for ever. Why, cos their owners seem to think they appreciate in value like property.

Just had a look at the class structure as it's been a topic
What great mismatches.

Talking of which, are the outboard limits for RB4 a typo?
Going by the limits for RB2 and RB3 I'd expect them to be something like 5,000cc/5,000cc/7,000cc not 5,000cc/3,470cc/4,500cc!
Or am I missing something?

Dunno, not really into 'clipons', so didn't have much to do with the rules relating to them, however, I do know that choosing the various capacity limits was given quite a bit of time by Rob Beakhust and was never going to be easy, because of the huge range of different capacity, and engine types out there, that acheive the benchmark power thresholds (150, 225, and 300hp)
Rob studied loads of engine specs to arrive at the published figures and I think that without listing particular makes and horsepowers allowed for each class, he had to generalise to a degree.
When you actually sit down and try to sort this stuff out, it aint easy, at least not if you want a set of rules that are clear & simple to understand, and clear and simple to police.
I think it went something like, 2.5 two stroke(250-ish hp)/verado(275-ish hp/big Suzuki/Yamaha (300hp) as a benchmark comparison, with the 4 strokes weighing a fair bit more than the two stroke, so making up for little extra power.

Just had a quick browse through the present entry listings and found the following:
Alan Goodwins 30' velocity is to short for Class RB2
Graham Jelley's 8m Scorpion Rib is to short for Class RB3
Clive Baker's 27' Wellcraft with single 450hp Merc needs its engine capacity clarifying for Class RB4 (small block or big block)
Jonathen Rowe's 27' Revenger Rib with Mercruiser 502 is over the engine capacity for Class RB4
Marc Lamont's 6.8 litre Lamont Monohull is over the engine capacity for Class RB4
This is based on my understanding of the rules, which i understand could be wrong!!!
This isnt meant as a criticism to the organisers who are doing a great job, i am just sharing my observations with the Forum.

Funny thought it was under P1 rules hence a capped top speed. Would that not make it a log event as opposed to a race Race is a misleading word to use on the Web Site, Logo's ect. "Predicted Log" or "Target Log" would be be more accurate

Perhaps the maximum cc for petrol inboards in Class RB3 should be raised from 13000cc to 15000cc. This would open up the option of boats in the 27 to 32' range with twin Big Block Chevy's to participate.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the offer Gordon but will have to make it another time due to my schedule.
Flying from Dubai to Gatwick tomorrow, then gatwick to Houston, Texas on Monday. Will be there for a couple of days to attend an Oil show. Then accross to Baton Rouge for a day and then on up to Louisville, then Philly and finaly New York. Then fly back to Dubai on the 8th May.
Then on the 16th of May, i fly back to the UK for 3 months Holiday. And hopefully sort a boat out.
Thanks Gordon.
PS. Can i use your Revenger 29 for the Round Britain if i dont get anything else sorted?

Oh, one more thing,
Does entry into the RB 2008 automatically qualify you for a VAT Inspection?

Classes are there for all to see and comply with your choice. Just seems what would be a natural or normal choice of fit for a performace boat doesn't quite work out thats all. But there again they might be easier to re-sell after "One owner" low hours Slightly loaded in favour of certain types but again your choice.

I cant believe it,
I just found myself looking at RIB's on Boats and outboards out of sheer desperation.
Someone pinch me, tell me im dreaming and ill wake up in a moment and find that the rules for class RB3 have been ammended to allow inboard petrols to a maximum of 15,000cc!!!
