I asked that a while back, i think it was due to safety and fairness - in flat conditions they would be way ahead of everyone but in the rough they would have real problems and could be unsafe especially when they are out further at sea.

Difficult point to answer without causing considerable debate which I don't want to get into right now. As with P1 it was a considered decision that we took after talking it through with Steve Curtis.

On another point, good to see four Phantoms entered now. 2 x 28ft and 2 x 25ft's. Should be interesting to see how they fair against the RIB's.

You will indeed find many anomolies in the Participants list on the Round Britain 2008 Web Site, but the list is called "Intended Entrants" and is a list of competitors, their boats and the class's that they wish to participate in. Obviously if their boat does not meet their particular Class Rules they will be replaced by a competitor on the reserve list who's boat does comply.

Further, I wonder how many RIB entrants are aware that they must modify and enclose the Bow section of their boats in order to prevent swamping?

There's nothing in the rules that says that!

3.7 specifically adresses ribs, and states that OPEN RIBS must have a solid mounted centre consol, which means they dont have to fit a deck.

Thumbs up Noisy in RB2 or RB3

Jon

I am thinking either I buy two nice small blocks, sell the big blocks, or i retro fit a bathing platform similiar the later Velocity's. What do you reckon? I hope that Noisy is not outside rules...would be a shame now that things seem to be sorted dont you think?

haven't looked at the scorpion

Clive Bakers Wellcraft has a Merc 496HO, which is 8.1 litre....too big for RB4 (6.5 litre limit)

Jonathan Rowe, same as above

I'm not certain what tollerance is being allowed on capacities (ie, a bit for reboring etc, usually in the UIM ruling) so 6.8 may well be withing the limit when that rule is applied. Marc is a shrewd player, and WILL have looked into this I'm sure.

Taz, that doesnt really answer the question!

is it not more to do with the displacement of Martins engines relative to yours?
