Martin Mclaughlin's Phantom
Looking at thr RB2008 website has answered the unasked question of why did Martin have a Phantom 28 behind his truck the other day as spotted by Splitpin.
What was its previous history does anybody know ???

To promote a sport you need to advertise. Why do so many power boat racers stay so secretive about there boats. Don't you ever learn. i read on these forums about how little support you get from mags etc but you don't reveal any info.
How would F1, Rally, Superbike etc promote there sport if you didn't know what was racing. May be just maybe Honda are doing well because there an't no secrets.
Its one thing to race and i respect you all. Just don't moan when you get no support.
RB8 has a great web page, may i suggest you use it and then maybe motorboat monthly etc. might use some of the info to promote your sport.
If you want Powerboat racing to grow in this country it has to change.

To be fair to Martin, he has been quiet about the aquasition of the P28, because the negotiations were still on-going, and he didn't want to advertise the fact that there was genuine P28 (read, 'sought after') out there, looking for a new owner until he'd sealed the deal, coz he didn't wan't anyone gezumping him.
As it appears he's probably all sorted now, maybe he'll tell everyone a little more about it, and his entry for RB8.

Merc 2.5 cc?
I see the entrants have been moved around in the classes on the rb site and was just wondering what cc a Merc 2.5 is as I thought they were 2508 or something like that which would put a pair of them outside RB4.

Motor capacity. 2.5's are smaller displacement, I suspect.

I am not sure what the cc of a 2.5 is but was just curious. This seams to be something that people are looking at as tricky said earlier in this post with regard to UIM tollerences and how stringent the capacity rules will be for the RB. Personally I just cant wait to take part.
