You are getting into the area of confidential information CB1. This race is being run by a Ltd company and that information is for us to know only. To satisfy your curiosity however the cost is nothing like you are suggesting otherwise we couldn’t afford to run this race, as we intend to, as a Corinthian Event.

ML.
Probably more like 250-300 as most will have 3 crew and like us old ones with dodgy backs some spares.

£250 x 2.5 x 50 = £31 250 at a very rough guess.

vs

V24 2007 £350 x 2 x 4 = £ 2 800
C3 2007 £350 x 2 x 12 = £ 8 400

Spot the difference?

I should think the RYA would look after the RB8 guys very carefully, and give them discounts on event fees etc.

Looks like his entry has been bought by someone else. That is unless there is another Planatec 40 that has remained hidden all these years.

I think that's unlikely, as Peter Moore now owns the boat!

TD is right, Iain Maclean & myself will be having a go.

Would use of paracetemol, ibubrufen and ralgex count as doping?

RB08 Venues

Just a quick update.
We have now visited and put in place and covered most of your needs (which are many, Harbour Masters, fuel, moorings, pit areas, cranes security parking etc etc, etc) at most venues. Alan (Goodwin) has sorted Plymouth, Bangor (Northern Ireland) and with Peter Penn, Milford Haven. Jules and I have just completed talks with Oban, British Waterways (the Caledonian Canal and Inverness), very stressful with meetings every day. Huge problems logistically everywhere initially but with the help of kind local people and eventually the various authorities we have some great venues up there now. You guys taking part will be stunned with the beauty of the Scottish venues. Oban is pretty good but when you get into the Canal system (6 knots) and then into the lochs like Loch Ness (you can go flat out up through there for twenty odd miles!) the scenery is simply stunning. Hopefully we will be having a party at Inverness before the fleet leaves on its final run down the East Coast and those final venues we hope to visit within the next two weeks. It's all coming together.
We stood at the sea lock exit to the canal system at Inverness looking out into the vast and beautiful Moray Firth with the huge road bridge running over it and could imagine the excitement and trepidation of the crews as the boats make their way out to the muster area under the bridge with 220 miles to run down to Edinburgh. That’s going to be a tough run and for sure this will be a race to remember for everyone involved. ML.

Potential RB2 boat?

Price looks good and I know the owner pretty well.

Might be a good deal for anyone still looking for a boat.

The only reason Dave is selling is because he was on East Lake & was pulled over by the Law & asked to leave ! When he asked why they just said get it off the lake, something to do with noise i believe Seriously though Bens right a very well rigged, well set up,well balanced ex raceboat.

So its not Bruce's boat. I guess I don't know the owner pretty well then.

Cesa!

Fabio Buzzi tells me that he intends to bring over CESA for the RB08 - amongst others!!

For those who don't know, and there can't be many, CESA was one of the truly magnificent Class 1 monohull race boats of the late 80's and early 90's. Fabio has completely restored it to it's original condition and it's his favourite "toy". Like many of you I watched in awe in 1988 as he lapped repeatedly in the Needles Trophy race around Poole Bay at an average of over 100mph in that boat. See pic.
