Taggers on!!

I heard today that "racers" are considering tagging on to the RB08 but not entering!!
Not very bright suggestion. No safety cover, no berths in marinas, no fuel, no TV cover and worst of all NO PARTIES!!!!

Come on guys whoever started this give Mike a chance!! He has enough people trying to undermine his efforts without "racers" joining in the fray!!

Am well aware of ALL the "pub talk" rumours Tim, can't be bothered with them. So many experts with sooo much knowledge that I am amazed that “they” haven’t organised The Round Britain Race before themselves. “They” have had 24 years in which to do it. "If you can bear to hear the words you've spoken, twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools" says it all really.

Also, those who think that they are going to run with the fleet and NOT pay their way had better think again. Those competitors who are serious and who ARE paying to take part in this Great Race won’t look too kindly on those who “pretend” to be taking part.
ML.

Well, the trio of Grimshaw, Smillie and Keyser are definitely set to hit the UK waters for the RB08 in their newly aquired 38 CUV, which seems to almost certainly be the Della Valle boat: 'Ego' > 'Rothmans Ego' > 'Cinzano Bianco' > 'Eberhard' > 'GP Pedrini' > 'Paygo Fruit Juice' > 'Gruppo Della Carbonare'. (thanks to Graham for the history info)

The boat will travel back from the south of France this week.

Mr Smillie is jumpping round like a dog with ten dicks, the excitement could well finish him off!

If it does prove to be Cinzano, it'll be very cool.

That is my first memory of off shore racing sitting in my concord clypso 13 foot something watching those boys go by at the start line. Listing to all those V8 with straight through exhausts and i was hooked.

Always dreamt that one day i might get involved.

Della Valle boat was at the time the best.

I could not not agree more with you guys, it was Della Valle's boat more than any other boat in the early 80's with those strait through exhausts that did it for me too...used to have on a tape somewhere Cinzano running flat out on a deep blue sea with a helicopter perched right on it's nose...fantastic

It's got a bit of a beak!

Which Thuraya doesn't appear to have.

Was there not 2 or more CUV in P1 Thuraya was 41' and had Lambo engines hence the fire, their was another called Siff it ran with diesel engines and if it was the original Cinzano boat it should of been 38' from what I recall and not 41'

I think this one is a 38.

SIF was indeed a Issota Frachini powered boat. it looked very, very tired when I last saw it..

here's a few pics from the P1 event in Brighton, '04

the two Diesel CUVs 'SIF' in the foreground.

Yellow boat in the background is another CUV, Lambo powered.

When you say very tired JF I must confess I know nothing about Alloy boats and upkeep but would it not be very simple to straiten out the odd panel stick in the odd rivet etc and then on it would bash for another x number of years

Wouldn't like to say.

These were very well built I believe, but with the Debenhams boat, it was a constant fight with cracked and broken brackets, frames, deck stiffeners etc.
